When David Walliams was a child he spent time aplenty with his grandmas.

Sometimes he would selfishly think spending time with his grannies could be boring but when he got them on a subject like living in London during World War II, when bombs were raining down, they would become very animated and he would be enthralled. He realised everyone has a story to tell.”

In Walliams’s tale, Friday night meant only one thing for Ben: staying with Gangsta Granny, where he must put up with cabbage soup, cabbage pie and cabbage cake. πŸ₯§πŸ₯£πŸ° Ben knows one thing for sure – it will be so, so boring – but what Ben doesn’t know is that Granny has a secret.

Friday nights are more exciting than he could ever imagine, as he embarks on the adventure of a lifetime with his very own Gangsta Granny.

β€œThere was definitely a smell of cabbages in one of my grandmas’ houses,” recalls Walliams, giving an insight into his inspiration for Gangsta Granny.

β€œThe other did break wind like a duck quacking when she walked across the room.β€πŸ˜πŸ¦†πŸ¦†

Happy Chinese New YearπŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

Why Is 2026 the Year of the Horse? 🐎🐎🐎

The Chinese zodiac follows a 12-year cycle, with each year represented by a different animal. In 2026, the cycle brings us to the Horse.

According to Chinese mythology, the order of the zodiac animals was decided by a Great Race held by the Jade Emperor. The clever Snake 🐍coiled around the Horse’s hoof, managing to finish the race ahead of the Horse and causing the Horse to fall into the seventh place.

Unlike the cautious and introspective Snake, the Horse embodies enthusiasm, speed and fieriness, bringing a year focused on bold moves and exploration.🐎🐎🐎🐎

For those born in a Horse year, 2026 is their Ben Ming Nianβ€”a year traditionally believed to bring bad luck due to a clash with Tai Sui, the God of Age.πŸ‰πŸ²

We celebrated this day by creating our own Fire HorsesπŸ”₯πŸ”₯ 🐎🐎 at home and then we had a horse race with our horses.

Each year on National Chopsticks Day, people worldwide celebrate the humble and ancient utensils on February 6th.

Today we celebrated Chopsticks Day by cooking Chinese dumplingsπŸ₯ŸπŸ₯Ÿ and soupπŸ₯£.We then tried them with our chopsticks. It was really delicious.

Thank you to Mrs Zang for helping with teaching us a new Chinese recipe, for cooking and for showing our learners how to eat with chopsticks. 🍜🍜🍜🍜🍜

Learner’s Talk for World Diabetes Day

Delivered by Dr. Makhale, 8 years old to his peers

Today is World Diabetes Day. Diabetes is a condition that affects how the body uses sugar. Our bodies need sugar for energy, and insulin helps move that sugar into our cells. When someone has diabetes, their body doesn’t make enough insulin or it doesn't use it properly.
