The lab which was equipped by our partners at New Era College will go a long way in fostering creativity and critical thinking. Teachers will also be trained at the prestigious institute's Gaborone campus.

Meet you PAMO 2025 hosts.

Gloria Mogotsi is a dedicated Mathematics educator with over a decade of experience in Botswana’s secondary education system. She holds a Bachelor of Education (Science) degree majoring in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Botswana, a Postgraduate Certificate in Quality Assurance in Education from Botswana Open University, and is currently pursuing a Master of Education in Educational Leadership. A Botswana Examinations Council seasoned Examiner and active member of key academic committees—including the Quality Assurance Committee, also served in Internal and External Examinations Committees, and the Teaching Timetable Committee—she has played a vital role in enhancing teaching, learning, and assessment practices. Since 2019, she has served as an executive member of the Mathematical Association of Botswana (MAB), contributing to curriculum development and professional growth initiatives. Gloria has also served as a focal person for the Digitization in Schools Programme, where she championed the use of digital tools in Mathematics instruction. In addition, she serves as a shop steward for the Botswana Teachers’ Union (BTU), advocating for teachers’ rights, welfare, and fair treatment in the workplace. Her work reflects a deep commitment to learner achievement, teacher empowerment, and the transformative impact of Mathematics on national development and STEAM.

Invitation to the Press Conference for the 2025 Pan African Mathematics Olympiad (PAMO)

The Mathematics Association of Botswana is pleased to extend an invitation to media houses to attend a press conference ahead of the 2025 Pan African Mathematics Olympiad (PAMO), which Botswana is honoured to host for the very first time.

Date: Friday, 6th June 2025

Time: 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM

Venue: New Era College, Gaborone

About PAMO:

The Pan African Mathematics Olympiad (PAMO) is the premier annual mathematics competition for high school students across Africa. Organized under the auspices of the African Mathematical Union (AMU), PAMO seeks to foster a culture of mathematical excellence, critical thinking, and intellectual collaboration among the youth of Africa.

Think of PAMO as the "African Champions League of Mathematics"—where the best young minds from across the continent converge not with footballs, but with formulas and logic!

This year’s Olympiad will run from 8th to 18th June 2025, and will feature participants from 23 African countries, bringing together over 250 talented students, coaches, and officials. Participants will engage in a series of high-level mathematical problem-solving contests and educational excursions—like a brainy safari through the world of numbers—aimed at promoting STEM education, regional cooperation, and academic excellence.
