The college offers programmes in counselling, psychotherapy, rehabilitation, human development, and family studies, while also promoting research, student exchange programmes, community engagement, and international partnerships.
She highlighted the institution's commitment to social responsibility through initiatives such as adopting Kgetheng Primary School, operating community counselling programmes, supporting clinical placements, and securing suitable accommodation for students within the Ramotswa community, thereby creating economic opportunities for local residents.
Addressing management, staff, and students, Honourable Maele explained that the Ministry currently sponsors approximately 41,000 students, with 14,000 enrolled in brigades and technical colleges and 12,800 studying at private institutions. Of these, 288 students are enrolled at Phronesis International College.
The Minister said the institutional visits are intended to assess whether sponsored students are receiving quality education and whether Government is obtaining value for money from its investment in education. He noted that of the Ministry's P6.7 billion budget, P4.5 billion is allocated to student sponsorships.
"We are investing heavily in human capital because young people are Botswana's new diamonds. Our responsibility is to polish, equip, and empower them with the skills needed to succeed in a rapidly changing world," he said.
Honourable Maele commended the institution's vision, growth trajectory, community impact, and international outlook.
