JAPANESE AMBASSADOR HAILS PARTNERSHIPS
The Japanese Ambasaddor to Botswana H.E Mr Masahiro Onishi has hailed the partnership existing between teachers, parents and stakeholders in advancing the education system in the country. Speaking at the Prize giving day and official adoption of Serameng Primary School by Seabelo Holdings, the Ambassador said the role of the Parents Teachers Associations has to be emulated for it fosters advancement of co-relations between schools and parents, not only at local level but also at a national level.

Teemane Primary School recently held their Prize Giving Day under the theme, "Empowering Young Learners Learn how to Learn". The function was graced by the Chief Executive Officer of Botswana National Olympic Committee Mr. Tuelo Serufho who encouraged parents partnerships with schools for better products for the country's industries.

Rainbow High School awarded students who put up a sterling performance during the 2014 academic year. The event was held at the school hall. A sense of competition seemed to have engulfed the students from the last awards during the mid term awards. Commitment and discipline still remains the core of the students' and teachers' values as they aim to produce the best of products for the country's industrial needs.

PUBLIC NOTICE: 2013 BGCSE CERTIFICATES RELEASED
The public is informed that the 2013 BGCSE Certificates have been released. School candidates can collect their certificates from their respective schools. Private candidates can collect their certificates Monday to Friday from the Botswana Examinations Council Headquarters during working hours from 0745 hrs to 1300 hrs, and 1400 hrs to 1630 hrs.
The public is duly informed that is issuing of the certificates invalidates the Statement of Results, unless otherwise stated by Botswana Examination Council.
Proof of identity is required to collect the certificates.
If you send someone to collect the certificate on your behalf the following should be provided:
• An authorization letter
• A certified copy of identity document
• Proof of identity for the collector
Accepted Identification Documents:
• Omang for citizens
• Passport for non-citizens

Botswana has been praised as being the best practise country of the Better Education for Africas Rise project amongst 5 other nations also implementing the same project. These include Namibia, Zambia, DR Congo and Malawi. In Botswana BEAR is focusing on the tourism industry which the government sees as "a strategic sector for generating foreign exchange, attracting FDI, creating employment and reducing particularly in the rural areas.
Of late, Botswana is on the 2nd phase of the project which involves Curriculum Development and labour market analysis, Capacity building, management of information systems and Monitoring progress. The BEAR project is carried out with cooperation from The Korea Republic.

Public-Private Partnership encouraged in growth of Technical Vocational Education and Training
Director of Harvey World Travel, Mr. Stanley Timuhwe has hailed the efforts being made by the government in ensuring partnerships between the Public and Private sectors in raising the standards of Technical Vocational Education and Training. Speaking at the launch of the Better Education for Africa's Rise at Gaborone Technical College earlier today, Mr. Timuhwe mentioned that the synergy was important for the production of students who are ready for the industry as they will be more skills based than knowledge based. He however bemoaned the lack of passion mostly in industry that has led to poor service delivery thereby giving a bad image to TVET students on their marketability.

MINISTER TO LAUNCH BETTER EDUCATION FOR AFRICA'S RISE PROJECT (BEAR)
The Minister of Education and Skills Development, Hon. Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi will launch the BEAR Project on Monday 22 September. The project is a development cooperation between the Government of Botswana and the Republic of Korea, where Korea is sharing its expertise in developing its education sector as a major driver of its economy. The collaboration between the two states has resulted in the development of three programmes with a suite of Generic Skills.
The BEAR project team worked closely with local industry and enterprises to ensure that the programmes developed produce graduates who have the right skills, attitude and mindset.

Hon Venson-Moitoi Wins Africa's Most Influential Woman Award
The Minister of Education and Skills Development, Hounourable Dr. Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi was recently announced as the Country winner for the coveted Africa's most Influential Women in Business and Government Award organised by a renowned South African company, CEO Communications.
The award recognises and celebrates the wonderful works demonstrated by women in leadership positions as well as in their communities across the continent. This aaward will now take Hon. Venson-Moitoi to compete in the Continental Awards to be held on October 30, 2014 at Gallagher Convention Centre, South Africa.
We would also as Education Eye want to take this opportunity to congratulate the Hon Minister for making the country proud.

Mogoditshane and Seepapitso Senior Seondary Schools emerged winners in this year's Botho University Teams Chess Competitions held at Botho University during the weekend. Defending champions Francistown SS could not make it to this year's edition of the competition citing financial challenges. The winning quartet, of Innocent Gabanakgosi, Potlako Kgobe, Ame Motlhanke and Aobakwe Motudu shruuged off the challenge from Mogoditshane, Kagiso and Mater Spei senior secondary schools to register a hard win. Speaking after the competition, Aobakwe attributed their win to the dedication they had put to the competition noting that they had forked out their savings to finance the transport costs to Gaborone from Kanye. in the girls category, Mogoditshane senior secondary claimed the first prize winning it a second time since the inauguration of the tournament.
