PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Pharmacy Faculty was established in 1966. The faculty prepares the students for a career in pharmacy with a thorough understanding of drugs and diseases. The curriculum promotes interaction between pharmacists and other health professionals. The pharmacy curriculum offers a professional five-year program leading to a Pharmaceutical Degree.

TEACHING METHOD
Pharmacy is taught in semesters, each of them ending in examinations or project presentations. Studies consist of lectures (30 percent of the curriculum) and seminars/practical sessions, which are the main teaching methods and constitute 70 percent of the entire curriculum. Each course includes lectures, seminars, laboratory work, small group work, practice-based activities, and assignments. Using the body systems model as an integrated context for teaching, the curriculum is designed to break down barriers between disciplines, helping students to learn more effectively. Teaching is integrated, facilitating students’ exposure to basic and applied science and professional practice in the context of patient care. This will be supported by an increasing focus on practice-related learning, as evidenced by placements and in-house simulation-based learning, as well as additional practice experience provided in-house.

The description will help you understand the Specialty and how it will help you become Bio-Technologist. Biotechnology consists of vast fields. The most in-demand careers in Biotechnology include Medical Sciences, Clinical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Microbiology, Medical Engineering, Process Development Science, and Clinical Research.

The engineering program at the Kursk State Medical University was established in 1992. The students are engaged in the production of biologically active substances: drugs, vitamins, vaccines, dietary supplements, as well as any other synthetic organic compounds - prepared to solve engineering problems, to creative innovative activities in the field of high-tech processes, to the realization of responsibility for decision-making, to a permanent professional self-improvement and work in the pharmaceutical industry, bio-factories, research and design institutes, etc. production of food industry, chemical plants organic synthesis, forensic laboratories and laboratories specialized enterprises.

Students study with the participation of 28 departments, which teach humanitarian, socio-economic, mathematical, natural science and professional disciplines. Among the teachers of the faculty are 26 professors and 25 assistant professors. More than 50 patents for inventions confirm the novelty of the research of the faculty. All the departments of the faculty are equipped with modern instrumentation providing laboratory and practical work, provided for by the Federal State Educational Standard. In 2013, the laboratory of practical skills in physical and chemical methods of analysis, which is a structural unit of the Center for Accreditation and Simulation Training, was opened after reconstruction.

The educational process is focused on the training of specialists of a wide profile; therefore, students receive deep general engineering training and fundamental knowledge in general technical, chemical, biological disciplines, mathematics, and computer science. The faculty actively uses innovative teaching methods - audio and video lectures, computer slide films, software packages for performing laboratory and practical tasks, molecular modeling software packages that allow bio-screening of new drugs, study the mechanisms of interaction with cellular structures. Educational Attachments and Practical Training of the students is run in different factories and enterprises:

i. Pharmstandard Leksredstva OJSC,
ii. Kursk State Bio-factory Private Enterprise,
iii. BIOK Firm, Gorky Institute of Epidemiology and
iv. Microbiology. N.F. Gamalei RAMS (Moscow).

Excellent students can be trained in individual programs based on the Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology. N.F. Gamaley.

The scientific direction of the faculty is “Biomedical Engineering”, within the framework of which current issues of medical and environmental information technologies are being addressed.

The Pre- Medical program is a year long specialty equivalent to the Cambridge A'Level. The students has to successfully complete the Pre- Medical program to qualify for any of the Health Specialties. The Pre- Medical specialty awarding body is Cambridge.

On the June 27, 2019, Forbes magazine presented the ranking of higher education institutions, assessing them by the quality of education, the relevance of graduates and the proportion of entrepreneurs among them. Like last year, the highest position among medical universities was taken by the Kursk State Medical University, which received 22nd place in the overall rating. Kursk State Medical University overtook competitors from both capitals - First Moscow State Medical University. Named after. Sechenov and North-West State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikova.

The hundred universities, as in the past year, included only 13 medical university. Kursk State Medical University was in the first place, followed by the Orenburg State Medical University (30th place in the overall rating) and Altai State Medical University (32nd place). First Moscow State Medical University. Named after. Sechenov ( 33rd place), North-West State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikova – ( 66th place), and the Siberian State Medical University(70th Place).

In terms of the quality of education, Kursk State Medical University also became the first among medical students (9th place in the general list), and in terms of demand for graduates, it gave up the position of North-West State Medical University named after I.I. Mechnikova (16th place).

Already traditionally, Kursk State Medical University has become the only higher education institution in the region that has become one of the hundred best universities in Russia.
