At 79 years old, Mrs Makgatho continues to defy limits by choosing movement over excuses. Despite refusing knee surgery, she has turned to water as her rehabilitation tool โ€” proving that healing and strength can still be achieved through determination and consistency.

Through aquatic exercise, Mrs Makgatho is able to stay active while reducing pressure on her knees, improving mobility, strength, and confidence in a safe environment. Her journey is a powerful reminder that age is not a barrier to taking control of your health.

At Propellers, we celebrate resilience, courage, and the decision to keep moving forward โ€” one step, and one stroke, at a time.

On Saturday, 9 May 2026, Melodi Saleshando was crowned the 45th Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) Junior Female Sportsperson of the Year โ€” a truly remarkable achievement and a proud moment for the entire Propellers family.

Melodi has been part of the Propellers long-term athlete development programme since the age of 8. From her early days in Bronze Squad to rising through the ranks into High Performance, her journey has been defined by dedication, discipline, and unwavering commitment to excellence.

Her swimming journey has seen her compete across every level โ€” from school galas and BSSA League competitions, to South African Level 3 Championships, South African National Junior Championships, Africa Aquatics Zone IV Championships, Continental Championships, and International Championships.
