Breaking News: WAR AT MOONO WA BAITHUTI (UDC)
MOONO WA BAITHUTI-TWO PARALLEL CABINETS EXPLAINED
A result of the plan to expel Honorable Dumelang Saleshando and BCP from UDC!
Through this communication the Moono wa Baithuti family wishes to confirm and inform the University of Botswana student community and its well-wishers of the in-fights between the major contracting partners. Many confusing Moono Wa Baithuti SRC cabinets have been released because of political squabbles within and between Moono member parties. Moono Wa Baithuti is a coalition of two contracting partners being MASS-BNF and UBCD-BCP. In the previous 2020 SRC elections, the two parties won 12 SRC seats and lost 1(President) to GS-26. Unfortunately members of Moono Wa Baithuti disagreed heavily on how to run SRC to the extent that their differences led to police cases on matters ranging from assaults, malicious damage to property etc. Things only got worse from there. It has since emerged that the ex*****on of a plan to STRATEGICALLY expel Honourable Dumelang Saleshando and BCP from UDC going into 2024 elections is the real cause of the divisions in Moono Wa Baithuti.
Mass-BNF members report that President Duma Boko, who is a President of BNF and also President of UDC, instructed them to kick out UBCD-BCP because it refused to participate in the expulsion of Bokang Dumelang, the legitimate sitting UB-SRC President. Once again, UBCD-BCP did not respect nor pay attention to illegal and sinister resolutions. If Bokang, or anyone was to be suspended, it should have been on the basis of strong and legitimate grounds, with the students interests taken at heart while doing so, not because he belongs to another party. BNF is indeed a party that believes in expelling those that they don't agree with, doing so even if they don't have the powers to do so, and then causing havoc in the university. Furtheremore we have learnt that some members of the BNF led by Duma Boko cannot stomach the reality that the BCP holds majority (11) of Parliamentary seats while BNF only has 2. After 2014 elections the BMD held majority seats in the UDC, more than BNF, and likewise a strategic plan of action and inaction was put to work to divide and eventually expel the BMD going into 2019 elections. Just like members of AP and BMD were forced out of the UDC going into 2019 national elections, a plan is being carried out to force Honourable Dumelang Sleshando’s BCP from UDC going into 2024 election . The starting point of this plan being to exclude UBCD from Moono Wa Baithuti SRC elections cabinet.
All efforts that were undertaken to unite the fighting individuals and parties have failed after countless efforts by the mainstream parties to preside over the matter. The MASS-BNF has in most instances walked out of peace keeping meetings or shunned them all together, in the process disrespecting a delegation led by BNF Secretary General Moeti Mohwasa. What is dissapointing is that the conduct of UDC President, Duma Boko, confirms his involvemet in this whole plan as some worried MASS-BNF members have expressed in frustration. He is using his presidency and lawyer tactics to bulldoze the UBCD-BCP out of the coalition. A few weeks back UB management and UBCD members of the SRC received papers from Boko. He threatened to sue. In the papers he cited that he was representing other council members of
the BNF. Peace loving members of Moono Wa Baithuti were left with a gigantic egg on their faces as thy had expected UDC President to intervene and influence reconciliation, not take a particular side and fight another out.
The AP student wing (UB Progressives) even though skeptical at first, was forced by its Secretary General DR. Phenyo Butale to participate in the expulsion of UBCD and ultimately that of BCP. According to UB- Progressives Chairman, DR. Butale has been promised Gaborone Central constitutency which the Uiversity Of Botswana falls under. In 2019 Gaborone Central was contested by Dr. Mpho Pheko of BCP. Dr Butale wants Dr Pheko out so that he can contest. In this selfish process he uses the UB Progressives to do his dirty bidding without the blessings and approval of AP and right thinking UDC members.
This communication hopes to urge Moono Wa Baithuti and UDC well wishers to move and speak against a divided opposition both in UB and at national level. The results of opposition disunity is always the same; humiliating elections loss and continuation of BDP rule. Opposition needs to unite and ultimately win the 2024 elections for the sake of students, youth, and Batswana in general. In contesting alone at the exclusion of UBCD-BCP and UB-BPF, MASS-BNF and UB Progressives are in a su***de mission not just to lose one seat this time around, but to lose 13-0.
We need a complete cabinet that involves all member parties of Moono Wa Baithuti and it’s associates so that we take on and beat the GS-26, undivided!

Amogelang Mokwena, Moono Wa Baithuti Presidential Candidate Speaks✊:
Moono wa Baithuti is an umbrella party for the students, this means that all partners under the umbrella should enjoy equal rights, privileges, shared responsibilities, equal positions of power in all structures and committees of the party including the Moono wa Baithuti committee and sub committees, the SRC cabinet, campaigns teams, etc.
Any cabinet that is circulating around without capturing the representation of other political parties is a fake and fraudulent cabinet amateurishly designed by a cabal of hopeless losers who are still nostalgic about the times when they used (miraculously) to be in power.
Decisions of the umbrella are taken by a legitimate committee made up by representatives of all parties under the umbrella, an umbrella is governed through negotiations and consensus, not through rigged elections by a small cabal which are only known by distasteful remarks and insults; a case of reference being our worst performance in 2019 elections.
This cabal, which misrepresents what UDC and their party stands for, must be taken head on, and challenged. All progressive forces must join forces and vote against them. This comrades is a golden opportunity to finally cleanse our party of this cabal. This is a fight to offer UB students a democratically Moono wa Baithuti led SRC.
