DINTWA, PHATSIMA TO LEAD BOTSWANA'S 400M CHARGE AT WORLD U20

Botswana’s promising quarter-milers, Tsaone Dintwa and Junior Phatsima, will compete this evening in the men's 400-metre heats at the ongoing World Athletics U20 Championships in Eugene, Oregon, USA.

Dintwa will be the first local athlete to hit the track, launching Botswana's 400m campaign from lane four in heat one.

Phatsima will follow shortly after, carrying the national flag from lane seven in heat four.

The Botswana Athletics Association (BAA) invites all athletics fans to the BAA Track & Field Meet, taking place on 18 July 2026 at the National Stadium, Gaborone, starting at 09:00 hrs.

This meet will serve as the final qualification opportunity for athletes aiming to secure selection for the World Athletics Under-20 Championships in Oregon, USA , while also providing vital preparation for the upcoming AUSC Region 5 Games and The Youth Olympic Games.

Come and witness Botswana’s finest young athletes battle for qualification, personal bests, and national pride.
