Our WARRIOR CRUSH WEDNESDAY this week goes to Bogadi Serumola. If you're an aspiring nurse or thinking of pursuing NURSING, here is a bit of light to help you navigate your path.
💉Does nursing pay well??
—-> I will not answer this with comparison with other countries but in all honesty, the Government doesn’t pay nurses well, if you want to get a GOOD pay as a nurse, go for the private sector.. Don’t just go blindly though, have a good plan on your finances as people always say “there’s no security in private” .. Personally though, I’m VERY HAPPY where I am, and I have no plans of working for the government!!!
💉How many points do I need to study nursing
when I’m done with BGCSE?
——> Obviously 36+ but you have to do extremely well on your sciences and maths m, they’re really considered.
💉Do I need to rewrite to do nursing?
——> in all honesty, I think you have the money to pay for yourself to go to school then you don’t have to rewrite. Akere the government sponsors those that have done well and if you rewrite and do well? So if you didn’t but later realise that you really want to do this, you certainly can save up and pay for yourself. IHS fees are actually even quite affordable, please do enquire ..
💉 IHS or UB?
—-> Personally, I vote for IHS! Not because I was there but because of how the system of the academia works!! In IHS, you’ll hardly FD, you’d rather Retake, Mme ebile go berekilwe and ebile even if you retake, you’re 100% sure that you’re gonna pass it next. Of course it’s a diploma, but we ALL get to work le bana ba degree one way or the other. 😂 haele gore o bothale wa itshepa, then go for UB! IHS doesn’t have BSC and it’s not a 4 year course, and IHS has practicals right from the word GO so you have the opportunity to quit if you think this isn’t your field as early as you can but as for UB, you’re exposed to practicals on your 3rd year if not mistaken. IHS students, get very little allowance tho, but I don’t think that should be the base of your decision when you want to make a career choice.
💉Is nursing hard?
—-> Nursing g*e thata!!!! It’s not hard at all, it’s only that there’s a lot of content! A lot that you have and need to read and grasp, sometimes it’s quite confusing and overwhelming but it makes sense once you apply the knowledge to your practicals, goa berekiwa tota! And everything you learn in class is very very much applicable in the workplace. I still get to read my books to remind myself a few stuff .. but otherwise, wa twaela and you end up enjoying. It has its highs and lows, it’s frustrations and exciting moments.
💉What do I still find hard to get used to?
—-> Definitely the p**p fam!! 😭💔😂 I will never get used to that.. Ive gotten used to everything, and I mean everything and NOT THAT!!!! 😭😂😂😂
Otherwise, nursing is for those that love it and have the passion for helping. You see ALL kinds of things that may either disgust you , 😂 frighten you or traumatise you, but eventually you get used to it and you stick around because you love what you do! ❤️
Tag your friends and siblings so they can make good decisions on their career, you guys can ask more here and I’ll help out where I can 🤗
