๐ŸŽค Speaker Spotlight: Dr. Audrey Masizana

Audrey Masizana is a Senior Scholar and former Head of Computer Science at University of Botswana. A specialist in data science and high-performance computing, her work focuses on digital infrastructure and data-driven decision-making.

A Fellow of the Botswana Academy of Sciences, she leads national and international research initiatives in digital health, data systems, and machine learning, and currently chairs the development of Botswanaโ€™s Open Data Policy.

To inform ongoing discussions on strengthening scientific inputs to the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC), the ISC has published a series of discussion papers offering science-based recommendations across three key areas:

Options for establishing a dedicated scientific advisory mechanism to ensure that developments in science and technology are effectively integrated into BWC processes.

Recommendations to promote transparency, foster equitable partnerships, and align capacity-building initiatives with scientific needs.

Science-informed approaches to assessing and supporting compliance, with attention to emerging technologies, diverse national capacities, and global risks.
