Today, 12 August 2026, the 15th day of the 41st Summer Retreat (Yarney), the morning schedule began with the Three Daily Recitations (Gyünchag Sumpa) and Sojong, the confession and restoration ceremony practiced by the monastic community.

As previously announced, the residents of Gangteng Gewog made their annual first-harvest potato offering (Kewa Phechey) from their farm produce to Gangteng Ngagyur Buddhist University. Led by the Jangchey Bara Tshogpa (local community leader), each household offered one bag of freshly harvested potatoes.

Starting at 8:00 AM, a full-day Tara Ritual (Drolchog) was led by the Summer Retreat Khenpo (Yarney Khenpo). The ritual was performed specifically for Yonjong, to purify karmic obscurations arising from receiving faith offerings, pacify inner, outer, and secret adversities and obstacles, increase prosperity, health, and wealth, and dedicate prayers for their ultimate enlightenment, as an expression of gratitude for their offerings.

After lunch, Khen Rinpoche Kencho Tenzin delivered an inspiring introduction to the Dharma to the Gangteng villagers.

As announced in previous months, the Padling Chökor Grand Empowerment and Oral Transmission will be held from October 2 to 26, 2026, at Gangteng Shedra, located in Gangteng Gewog under Wangdue Phodrang Dzongkhag.
​In response to the repeated requests and supplications of disciples from both within and outside the country, His Holiness the 9th Gangteng Rinpoche, holder of the Peling tradition, will bestow the empowerments and oral transmissions of the profound Terma teachings of the King of Treasure Revealers, Pema Lingpa, together with their supporting teachings.

​These sacred teachings present a swift and profound path toward attaining enlightenment within a single lifetime and in a single body.

༈ གཏེར་སྟོན་གྱི་རྒྱལ་པོ་རིག་འཛིན་པད་མ་གླིང་པ་ (1450–1521) མཆོག་གིས་ཆོས་གཏེར་དང་རྫས་གཏེར་བསྡོམས་གྲངས་ ༣༢ བཞེས་ཡོད་ས་ལས། ཆོས་གཏེར་ལུ་སྐོར་ ༡༣ ཡོདཔ་ད། དེའི་ནང་ལས་མཁན་པོ་ཕུརཔ་རྒྱལ་མཚན་མཆོག་གིས་བླ་རྫོགས་ཐུགས་གསུམ་གྱི་སྐོར་ལས་མདོར་བསྡུས་སྦེ་ངོ་སྤྲོད་གནང་ཡོདཔ་ཨིན།
The King of Treasure Revealers, Pema Lingpa (1450–1521), discovered a total of 32 treasures, comprising both Dharma Treasures (Chöter) and Material Treasures (Dzater). Among these, there are 13 cycles of Dharma Treasures (Chöter), constituting a collection of profound Terma teachings that guide practitioners fully and clearly toward attaining enlightenment within a single lifetime and in a single body.

Among these 13 cycles, Khenpo Phurpa Gyaltsen gives a brief explanation of three cycles of Terma teachings: Lama, Dzogchen, and Thukje Chenpo. In this short video, he explains the significance and profound meaning of these teachings.

Mask Dance Practice of the Gangteng Sangag Chholing Tradition Commences

Today, August 4, 2026, following the sacred guidance of H.H. the 9th Gangteng Rinpoche, the annual mask dance practice of the Gangteng Sangag Chholing tradition for the upcoming Gangteng Tshechu festival began at Gangteng Shedra.
At around 10:00 AM, inside the main temple of Gangteng Shedra (Higher Ngagyur Buddhist College), the Dorje Lopon (Vajra Master) and Umzey (Chant Master) of Gangteng Sangag Chholing, a Champon (Dance Master), a Chamjuk (Assistant Dance Master), a Mask Dance Instructor, and the Principal of Gangteng Shedra, along with the participating monks, gathered for the opening ceremony. As per tradition, they performed the Zhugdrel Phunsum Tshokpa ceremony and then began their practice on the grounds behind the temple.

ད་རིས་རང་ལུགས་གནམ་ལོ་མེ་ཕོ་རྟ། རང་ཟླ་ ༦ པའི ཚེས་ ༢༡ དབྱར་གནས་ཉིནམ་ ༧ པ་ལུ། ༸སྐྱབས་རྗེ་སྒང་སྟེང་རིན་པོ་ཆེའི་བཙུན་མའི་མཐོ་སློབ་བུམ་ཐང་སྟངས་པདྨ་བཤད་སྒྲུབ་ཆོས་ཀྱི་དགའ་ཚལ་གླིང་ལས་བསླབ་པ་མཐར་སོན་པའི་སློབ་དཔོན་མ་ཨོ་རྒྱན་ཆོས་འཛོམས་ཀྱིས་ཕུལ་བའི་སྡེ་དགེ་པར་མའི་བཀའ་འགྱུར་ཆ་ཚང་གཅིག་གཙུག་ལག་ཁང་ནང་གདན་འདྲེན་གནང་བའི་མཐོང་སྣང་།
Today, 4 August 2026, marking the seventh day of the Summer Retreat, a complete set of the Degé Edition of the Kangyur—the canonical collection of the Buddha's teachings translated from Sanskrit into Tibetan—was ceremonially received and enshrined in the Main Temple.

The sacred scriptures were generously offered by Lopenma Ugyen Chozom, a graduate of His Holiness Gangteng Rinpoche's Nuns' Institute, Pema Shedrup Chökyi Gatseling, Tang, Bumthang, Bhutan.
