Professional Development Session on Structured Reading Programme
Today, 17th July 2026, we conducted a highly engaging and fruitful Professional Development (PD) session on the Structured Reading Programme. The session provided valuable insights, practical strategies, and collaborative learning opportunities to strengthen our efforts in improving students’ reading skills and literacy outcomes.
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude and appreciation to our dedicated resource persons for their valuable contributions and guidance throughout the session:
- Mr. Singye Dorji
- Mr. Pema Wangchuk
- Mr. Dawa Norbu Sherpa
- Mr. Ugyen Wangchuk
The session focused on developing an effective Structured Reading Programme using DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills), an evidence-based assessment tool designed to measure essential early literacy skills. Through DIBELS, teachers can identify students’ reading strengths and areas for improvement, provide timely interventions, and implement targeted instructional strategies to support every learner’s reading development.
The PD also emphasized the importance of systematic phonemic awareness, phonics instruction, reading fluency, vocabulary development, and comprehension strategies. Teachers actively engaged in discussions, shared experiences, and explored practical approaches to administer assessments, analyze data, and plan differentiated support for students with diverse learning needs.
We believe that the knowledge and skills gained from this session will contribute significantly towards building a stronger reading culture in our school and ensuring that every child receives the support needed to become a confident and proficient reader.
Once again, heartfelt appreciation to our resource persons and all participants for their active involvement, commitment, and enthusiasm in making this PD session a meaningful and successful learning experience.
