Reading Week Celebration at Nimshong Primary School(01/09-08/09/2026)
Reading Week was observed at Nimshong Primary School from 1st to 8th September 2026 under the theme “Literacy for People, the Planet and Prosperity.” The week-long programme was organised with the aim of promoting reading habits, strengthening literacy skills, and engaging students in meaningful and enjoyable learning experiences.
During the morning sessions, students followed their regular reading activities, while the afternoon sessions featured a variety of reading-related activities conducted each day throughout the week. The activities were designed to encourage students to read, think critically, express themselves confidently, and develop their creativity and communication skills.
The following activities were conducted during the Reading Week:
1. Tuesday – Read and Share
2. Wednesday – Art Competition
3. Thursday – Running Dictation
4. Friday – Reading Competition
5. Monday – Dzo Debate
6. Tuesday – Quiz Competition
The Reading Week concluded on 8th September 2026, coinciding with International Literacy Day. The closing programme was marked by the awarding of prizes and certificates to the top three winners in the various activities conducted throughout the week. The recognition not only celebrated the students’ achievements but also encouraged them to continue developing their reading skills, creativity, confidence, and enthusiasm for learning.
The organisation of such programmes provides numerous benefits to learners. Firstly, the activities help students improve their reading and comprehension skills. Secondly, they provide opportunities for students to acquire new ideas, knowledge, and skills related to reading and communication. Most importantly, the students were actively and meaningfully engaged throughout the programme, making learning more enjoyable and purposeful.
Such programmes are particularly beneficial for young learners, as they help nurture curiosity, creativity, confidence, critical thinking, and a love for learning. These experiences not only support students’ academic development but also contribute to preparing them to become knowledgeable, confident, and productive citizens in the future.
Finally, the School Administration would like to express its sincere gratitude to Mrs. Sonam Choki and Mrs. Dawa Zam, the Literary Coordinators for English and Dzongkha, for their dedication and initiative in organising such innovative and engaging activities. Their efforts have undoubtedly contributed to enriching the students’ learning experiences and will play an important role in building and shaping the lives of the students.
The school looks forward to continuing such meaningful programmes in the future to further promote literacy and holistic development among its learners.
