On this sacred and auspicious day at our centre, we warmly welcomed our little new children with Lhabsang, filling the space with positive energy and prayers for a bright beginning. The ceremony was followed by joyful cake cutting and offering of khadar as a symbol of our pure wishes, blessings, and heartfelt hopes for each child.
It was truly a beautiful moment to see the smiles on their faces as we marked the start of this new journey together. With good intentions and strong faith, we begin this chapter with love, care, and dedication to nurturing their growth and happiness.
May this new beginning bring wisdom, joy, confidence, and many precious memories for our children and their families. 🌸✨

Circle time has become a heavily emphasized part of early childhood settings, but the way it is often structured sets children up for failure.

When we demand that every child sits still, stays quiet, raises their hand, and participates for a set amount of time, we are forcing unrealistic expectations on young children—especially in an age where movement, exploration, and sensory experiences are the foundation of learning.

Children do not learn to sit still by being made to sit still. In fact, self-regulation, focus, and attention span are developed through play, where children naturally practice impulse control, turn-taking, and perseverance.

Play is the true foundation for later participation in structured activities. By pushing and pressuring circle time into early childhood, we have taken a moment that should be joyful and turned it into a stressful demand.

Circle time should always be optional, yet so engaging that children want to join. If a child is uninterested or disengaged, forcing them to stay does not lead to learning—it only leads to compliance, shame, and disconnect.

True learning happens in moments of connection, curiosity, and joy. Instead of focusing on control, prioritize engagement, flexibility, and responsiveness to children’s needs.

Remember, you may be able to make a child sit, but you cannot make them learn.

If you're looking for a more in-depth breakdown of how to align your circle time with developmentally appropriate practice, you can grab our 13 page document "Managing Circle Time" here: https://www.weskoolhouse.com/store-guides This provides our top tips, addresses common misconception, and provides strategies on how to keep these experiences authentic, engaging, and meaningful.

During free time, our children naturally gather together to sing their favourite songs. Some sing softly, while others sing with full confidence — but every voice carries its own charm. These moments allow the children to express themselves, build confidence, and showcase their individual talents. Watching them sing, clap, and enjoy the rhythm shows how free play can bring out their creativity and joy. It is a simple yet meaningful way for them to bond, learn, and shine in their own little ways.
