21 Lives Lost, 143 Houses Destroyed as Floods and Landslides Hit Nepal 🇳🇵
At least 21 people have lost their lives, five are missing and five have been injured after heavy rainfall triggered floods and landslides across Nepal between September 24 and 27. According to the latest NDRRMA figures, 143 houses were completely destroyed and 51 partially damaged, with 747 families directly affected.
The damage has been reported across several districts, including Baglung, Parbat, Syangja, Tanahun, Gorkha, Manang, Myagdi, Mustang, Nawalparasi East and Palpa. In Parbat, flooding of the Kali Gandaki River completely damaged 106 houses, while in Syangja, 13 houses were completely damaged. In Palpa, landslides and the swollen Kali Gandaki caused damage at several locations.
Bridges have also suffered major damage. Six bridges were completely damaged and two partially damaged in Gandaki Province, while a Bailey bridge connecting Gulmi and Syangja was swept away by floodwater. The Maldhunga bridge on the Mid-Hill Highway and a bridge at Pokharebagar along the Beni-Jomsom road were also damaged by the swollen Kali Gandaki, disrupting road connectivity in several areas.
