Learning never ends. For institutions working in skills development, it also means continually adapting programmes, partnerships and learning pathways to changing market needs.
Athang Training Academy recently represented Bhutan as a country counterpart at the inaugural IC3 Digital Literacy International Championship 2026 in Hanoi, Vietnam. Hosted by IIG Vietnam in partnership with Certiport, Pearson, the Championship brought together young competitors, educators and institutions from different countries. Beyond the competition, it provided a platform for digital learning, cultural exchange, international collaboration and the celebration of young talent.
One of the most valuable observations was the strong ecosystem supporting digital education. Education authorities, schools, universities, private institutions, teachers and parents work together to introduce age-appropriate digital learning, internationally recognized certification and competitions. Students progress from foundational digital literacy to creative and technical skills, with opportunities to benchmark their capabilities against global standards.
The experience reinforced Athang’s belief that digital literacy is no longer simply about operating a computer or using a smart device. It includes evaluating information, communicating responsibly, protecting personal data, creating content and applying technology to solve real-world problems.
The rapid growth of artificial intelligence makes this foundation even more important. Children and young people are already exposed to AI through search engines, social media, learning platforms and generative AI tools. The question is no longer whether they will use AI, but whether they will learn to use it safely, critically and responsibly.
Bhutan has already begun investing in digital transformation and skills development. Athang is committed to contributing to this journey through digital-literacy, professional certification and AI-training initiatives.
With stronger collaboration among parents, schools, universities, government agencies and training institutions, Bhutan can create pathways from learning and certification to national and international competition.
We hope to see Bhutanese students participating in future championships and perhaps, one day, Bhutan hosting young digital talents from around the world.
The digital and AI-enabled future is already here. Our shared responsibility is to prepare Bhutan’s current and future generations not only to use technology, but to understand it, question it and help shape it.
Parents, schools and institutions interested in exploring digital learning, responsible AI exposure and globally recognized certification pathways are welcome to visit or connect with Athang Training Academy.
