Summer Camp FAQ:
i) Safety
Our sessions have a maximum of 35 students at a time. We have two certified swim instructors, a lifeguard (not formally certified as there is no authority for this in Bhutan), and support staff.
We begin our camp with the assumption that none of our students can swim, and we start with safe practice education on the pool area, entry, exit, and progress within each students comfort level to standing in water, face in water, moving through water etc. - of course we allow swimmers to move faster as this is a fun camp and we can manage all the different levels according to their experience.
The coaching, game time, and free swim time is always fully supervised.
ii) Cost
Any discussion to book out a swimming pool is going to be expensive, when it's a four star hotel which provides great facilities including laundered towels, once can expect it may not be a cheap option, but in terms of normal costs for these types of programs, this is a fair price - it should be a little more than the walk swimming fee, to cover the cost of the training and programs, in this case it is 25% more (walk in for a student is Nu. 450 per 2 hours, program is 15 hours). So we do hope that most people are not deterred by the cost as this will still be an educational, safe and definately fun summer camp for the kids.
iii) What to bring / food
Students need only bring a comfortable dry swimming costume, a change of clothes, a water bottle marked with their name, and of course comfortable well fitting goggles. Towels and drinking water refills are provided. No need to snack but please eat before arriving (preferably not immediately before (about 30 minutes before recommended). Children will be hungry after the camp - because they were active, it's healthy (provided they ate before coming)! :)
