17.08.2026 Trilateral Student Exchange Programme

The Faculty of Undergraduate Medicine (FoUGM), Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan (KGUMSB), is pleased to welcome six medical students from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU), Germany, and Jimma University, Ethiopia, to Bhutan as part of the Trilateral Student Exchange Programme.

As part of the programme, the visiting students will undertake clinical rotations at Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital (JDWNRH), gaining exposure to clinical practice within Bhutan’s healthcare setting while engaging with faculty, healthcare professionals, and fellow students.

The programme aims to strengthen international academic collaboration, promote cross-cultural learning, and facilitate the exchange of clinical knowledge and experiences among participating institutions.

FoUGM extends a warm welcome to all participating students and wishes them a productive, enriching, and memorable learning experience in Bhutan.

Congratulations, Dr. Phurpa!
Heartiest congratulations to Dr. Phurpa on receiving the prestigious 16th Nakatsuka Medical Research Award from Oita University, Japan.
This is a truly remarkable achievement and a proud moment. Having completed his PhD at Oita University, Dr. Phurpa has now joined as an Assistant Professor of Physiology at FoUGM.
His deep knowledge, dedication, and passion for teaching will undoubtedly benefit generations of MBBS students. His journey is a wonderful example for young medical students, who can look up to him not only for academic excellence but also as an inspiration to work hard, pursue their dreams, and build a name for themselves through knowledge and dedication.
