🏃‍♂️ Kids Athletics at Pelkhil School 🏃‍♀️
Under a beautiful blue sky, our Pelkhil Cubs enjoyed a wonderful day of Physical Education through Kids Athletics!

Athletics is the foundation of many sports, and thanks to the collaboration with the Bhutan Amateur Athletic Federation (BAAF), our young students had the opportunity to develop basic athletics skills in a fun and engaging way.

BAAF Coach Mr. Lhaba, a proud Pelkhil alumnus, also conducted an orientation for our primary teachers, highlighting the importance of physical fitness and sports in children’s lives.

Although Pelkhil School values academic excellence, we take sports equally seriously. We believe that a balanced childhood cannot be built by sitting in the classroom alone.

A big thank you to BAAF for partnering with us to promote athletics among our young learners, and to Lhaba for your wonderful leadership and care for our students.

Your dedication shows that you are truly a Pelkhil Tiger! 🐯

All available seats have now been filled. Thank you very much for your overwhelming interest and support for Pelkhil School!

And today, the first of our new Pelkhil Cubs participated in the 'assessment for readiness'! 🐾

We were truly impressed to see how confidently and independently our young candidates participated in their interviews. It was wonderful to meet them and see their enthusiasm!

We will begin accepting registration for the waiting list in case any seats become available. If you are interested in joining Pelkhil School in Class PP in 2027, please register immediately.

“Japan sharing Bon Odori with Bhutan, and Bhutan sharing Tashi Lebay with Japan”

Our short-term exchange program with students from two Japanese schools is coming to an end.

During their stay, the Japanese students introduced Pelkhil School students to Bon Odori, a traditional Japanese summer dance. In the past, each town and community in Japan had its own unique Bon Odori, and people would gather together to enjoy dancing and celebrate the end of summer.

Inspired by this beautiful tradition, our teachers thought it would be wonderful for our Japanese guests to experience one of our own traditional dances, Tashi Lebay.

So, on this final day of their visit, all students from Classes 4–9 came together to dance Tashi Lebay with our Japanese friends.

What a wonderful way to celebrate friendship and cultural exchange—Japan sharing Bon Odori with Bhutan, and Bhutan sharing Tashi Lebay with Japan.

Through these simple moments of dancing together, our students are learning that cultural exchange is not only about learning about another country, but also about sharing something of our own culture with others.

We hope the memories created through these days together will stay with our students and our Japanese guests for many years to come. 🇯🇵🇧🇹

A Sad Update on Hershey

Hershey, the adopted stray who made the Pelkhil School campus her home for many years, has passed away.

Over the years, Hershey developed a tumor on her flank, which earned her the affectionate nickname 'Cancer' among our students. She eventually underwent surgery to remove it, but because the procedure required removing the surrounding skin, she was left with a large open wound. Despite the difficult healing process, her resilient spirit shone through, and she continued to move around campus seemingly unfazed.

A few months ago, following a report from a concerned parent, staff from Animal Trust took Hershey in for specialized care. Too weak for additional surgery, she was given supportive treatment, including chemotherapy and intravenous fluids. Sadly, constant licking caused the cancer to spread to other areas, including her foot, making it difficult for her to walk.

A week ago, Hershey finally lost her battle with the illness.

We are deeply grateful to the Jangsa team for their dedicated care during her final months. Hershey was a beloved part of our campus family, and she will be dearly missed by students, staff, and everyone whose lives she touched.

DAY3 Literary Day!

PP-III students had an inter-house quiz competition and IV-IX had an inter-house spelling competition of both English and Dzongkha, it the courtyard!

We also had PP-III inter-house quiz competition, in our hall!

📚 Literary Week Has Begun! 🎉

Literary Week kicked off today at Pelkhil School Junior Wing!

Students from Class PP to Class IX performed in both English and Dzongkha, showcasing an amazing variety of talents — singing, poetry recitation, skits, and much more!

Our students were truly talented and performed beautifully in front of the audience. Tashi Delek to all our students! 👏

I was especially happy to see how much confidence they are building as they step onto the stage and present in front of others. 🌱✨

Adding even more excitement to today’s celebration, students and teachers from our two sister schools, Hakuho Girls’ High School and Shinagawa Etoile Girls’ High School, joined us for the event. They will be staying with us for one week as part of our short-term exchange programme.

Our students are already thrilled to have their new Japanese friends joining them in the classroom! 🇯🇵🇧🇹
