🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ MARATHON 2026 | EMPOWERED WOMEN, SKILLED NATION

Early today, the Institute came together for a spirited marathon under the theme “Empowered Women, Skilled Nation.”

The theme highlights an important message: when women are empowered with skills, confidence, opportunities, and equal participation, the benefits extend far beyond the individual. Skilled and empowered women contribute to stronger families, resilient communities, a more productive workforce, and ultimately a stronger nation.

The event brought together both trainees and staff, with participants competing across four categories. We warmly congratulate all the winners for their determination, endurance, and sporting spirit, and equally commend every participant who took part and made the morning energetic and memorable.

A special word of appreciation goes to the Traffic Division, Royal Bhutan Police, Thimphu, for their unwavering support and assistance in ensuring the smooth and safe conduct of the event. Their cooperation played an important role in making the programme a success.

Develop practical woodcarving skills while building confidence, craftsmanship, and future livelihood opportunities.

📚 READING WEEK | OFFICIAL CLOSING & APPRECIATION

Today marked the official conclusion of Reading Week, bringing a meaningful week of reading, reflection, expression, creativity, and participation to a close.

The closing programme included the awarding of tokens of appreciation and certificates to the classes that contributed through the design of programme posters, as well as to individuals who showed keen interest and took an active role in making Reading Week a success.

The tokens and certificates were presented by the Training Coordinator and Heads of Department, in recognition of the creativity, enthusiasm, and commitment demonstrated throughout the programme.

👏 On behalf of the Literary Committee, we extend our sincere appreciation to all trainees, classes, volunteers, and participants whose active involvement contributed to the success of Reading Week.

Reading Week may have officially ended, but we hope the spirit of reading, learning, expression, and curiosity continues well beyond the programme.

📚 READING WEEK | STORIES, STRONGER VOICES & A MEANINGFUL CLOSE

Today marked the final day of our Reading Week programme, featuring two engaging activities — Storytelling and Product Description.

What stood out most was the trainees’ oratory skills and confidence on stage. From narrating stories with expression to describing products clearly and persuasively, they demonstrated creativity, communication, and growing confidence in presenting before an audience.

Throughout the week, Reading Week has provided a valuable platform for trainees to strengthen reading, reflection, critical thinking, public speaking, language proficiency, and self-expression through a range of literary and communication-based activities.

👏 It has been encouraging to see our trainees not merely participate, but take ownership of the stage and communicate with purpose.

Tomorrow, the programme will formally conclude with the certification ceremony, recognising the participation and contributions made throughout the week.

📚 READING WEEK | VOICES, REFLECTIONS & CONFIDENCE ON STAGE

Today’s Reading Week programme brought another inspiring set of activities to the stage, featuring reflections in both Dzongkha and English, a Dzongkha debate, and the delivery of traditional Dzongkha proverbs.

What stood out most was the confidence and presence of our trainees. It was truly impressive to see them step onto the stage, express themselves clearly, and own the moment with confidence.
Programmes like these go beyond reading — they strengthen communication, critical thinking, cultural appreciation, public speaking, and self-confidence.

📚 DROP EVERYTHING AND READ | READING WEEK

Today’s Reading Week activity invited everyone to do exactly that — drop everything and read.

For a dedicated period, trainees and staff set aside distractions and engaged in focused, uninterrupted reading, creating a calm learning environment centred on concentration, reflection, and knowledge.
What may have looked like a quiet moment was, in fact, a space where ideas were forming, perspectives were expanding, and streams of knowledge were being generated through every page read.

Activities like this remind us that reading is not simply a habit; it is a foundation for critical thinking, communication, imagination, and lifelong learning.

📖 Sometimes, the most powerful learning happens in silence — one page at a time.

📚 READING WEEK PROGRAMME COMMENCES

With the return of favourable weather conditions, the Literary Committee formally commenced the Reading Week Programme today, following a temporary postponement due to adverse weather.

The opening programme featured a thoughtful blend of literary and expressive activities, including English songs, a book talk, and a speech delivered in Dzongkha. These activities provided trainees with opportunities to strengthen their communication skills, confidence, critical thinking, creativity, and appreciation of language and literature.
Reading Week forms an important part of the Institute’s broader co-curricular learning environment, encouraging trainees to engage with reading, reflection, expression, and public presentation beyond the classroom.

ཁྲུས་བབས་དུས་ཆེན་ལུ་ བཀྲ་ཤིས་བདེ་ལེགས་ཞུ།

The Annual Thruebab, or Blessed Rainy Day, traditionally observed each year, falls this year on the 12th day of the eighth lunar month, corresponding to 23 September 2026.

On this auspicious occasion, for seven consecutive days, showers of blessed nectar are believed to descend like rain upon all realms of the world from the ushnisha, or crown protuberance, of Buddha Vairocana. It is regarded as an exceptionally sacred time of blessings, when the flowing waters throughout the world are believed to become imbued with the essence of divine nectar.

Accordingly, partaking in the auspicious practice of purifying ablution (Thrue) at the appropriate time and place, with sincere faith, devotion, and reverence, is believed to purify the karmic obscurations accumulated through body, speech, and mind since beginningless time. The practice is also believed to bring immense spiritual benefit by pacifying sudden adverse circumstances, misfortunes, fears, and dangers.

May the sacred occasion of Thruebab bring abundant blessings, auspiciousness, peace, prosperity, and well-being to all beings.
