📚✨ READING WEEK 2026 ✨📚
1st – 4th September 2026

🌟 Theme: “Beyond the Page – Where Literary Talents Meet the Real World” 🌟

We were delighted to celebrate Reading Week 2026, which provided our students with a wonderful opportunity to explore the joy of reading, discover their literary talents, express their creativity, and connect the world of books with real-life experiences.

📖 The week featured a variety of engaging activities, including:

🔹 Launch of Reading Week – The week began with activities on the importance of reading, Tshom, poem recitation, and an introduction to the programme.

🔹 Literary & Mentoring Activities – Students participated in exciting activities such as Folktale, Word Smuggle, Blind Date with a Book, 5-Word Epic, and Literature Circle.

🔹 Creative Expressions – Students showcased their talents through Tsang-mo, Poetry Recitation, Verse in a Song, and the creative activity Quick Draw Poet.

🔹 Reading Picnic 🌿📚 – Mentoring groups engaged in reading activities during their Nature Retreat. Students also took a meaningful Reading Pledge, which was collected by the mentors and preserved in a Time Capsule.

🔹 PP–III Activities – Our young learners participated in Guided Reading, Story Circle, Model Reading by Mentors, Choral Reading, and the Reading Pledge.

Through these activities, our students had opportunities to read, reflect, create, communicate and share, while developing confidence and nurturing a lifelong love for reading. ❤️📚

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all the Mentors, Literary Coordinators, Guest Speakers, teachers and student participants for their valuable support and dedication in making the Reading Week meaningful and memorable.

🌱 The Reading Week reminded us that books are not merely pages to be read, but gateways to imagination, creativity, knowledge and the real world.

A Meaningful Yarney Experience for Our Grade 10 Students 🙏
Today, our Grade 10 students had the wonderful opportunity to attend the second-last day of Yarney, the 45-day retreat. It was a meaningful occasion for our students to be part of this spiritual gathering and experience the peaceful atmosphere of the retreat.
As part of the programme, our students had the privilege of receiving Choshay (Dharma teachings) from the MA students of Dorden Tash*thang University , in the presence of Virochanna Trulku Rinpoche, along with the Principal and teachers of the university.
Such opportunities allow our students to learn beyond the classroom and deepen their understanding of spiritual values, reflection, and respect for our traditions. We are grateful for this valuable opportunity and for the guidance and blessings extended to our students.
May the wisdom and values received during this experience continue to inspire our students in their journey ahead. 🙏

💛 WORLD SU***DE PREVENTION DAY 2026 💛

Today, Kuzhugchen Middle Secondary School joined the global community in observing World Su***de Prevention Day, with a simple but important message — be there for one another.

The day began with our lady staff members wearing yellow and organge tego, symbolising hope, care and solidarity. During the morning assembly, our Peer Helper gave a speech reminding students that sometimes the greatest support we can offer is simply to notice, listen, and let someone know that they are not alone.

💌 During class, students participated in “Something Good About You,” writing kind and positive things about their classmates — giving every child a reminder of the wonderful qualities that others see in them.

🔗 Our Grades 4–6 created Kind Message Chains filled with words of encouragement and support, while our Grades 7–10 folded Cranes of Hope 🕊️ carrying messages of kindness and hope. These will remain displayed in their classrooms as reminders to continue looking out for one another beyond this day.

The programme concluded with a Su***de Prevention Workshop for teachers, strengthening our collective responsibility to recognise, respond to, and support students who may be struggling.

Today was a reminder that we may never fully know what someone else is carrying. A kind word, a listening ear, checking in, or simply being present can mean more than we realise.

💛 You matter more than you know.
💛 Your presence matters.
💛 And no one should have to face difficult days alone.

Investiture Ceremony & Certificate Awarding

A proud and memorable occasion as our Class PP students participated in their Investiture Ceremony, marking the beginning of their journey with the Scout movement.
The event also featured a Certificate Awarding Ceremony to recognize and appreciate our dedicated student volunteers for their valuable time and effort in serving at the Chari Meditation Centre. Their commitment, compassion, and spirit of service are truly commendable.
A meaningful celebration of responsibility, service, and young hearts making a positive difference.

🏆✨ A Proud Moment for Our School! ✨🏆

The Intra-Dzongkhag School Sports Meet, Thimphu Dzongkhag, was successfully held on 28th and 29th August at Wangbama Central School, bringing together young athletes to compete in Basketball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Badminton, and Chess in both boys’ and girls’ categories.
We are incredibly proud of our students for their dedication, sportsmanship, teamwork, and determination. 💪❤️ Our school emerged winners in Girls’ Basketball, while our Boys’ Basketball team and Boys’ Volleyball team secured Runners-up positions. 🏀🏐
Our students also brought home remarkable achievements in individual events:

Scout Hike & Zhabtho 2026 🏕️🤝
On 15 August 2026, Scouts and Scout Leaders successfully participated in the Scout Hike and Zhabtho programme from Chari Base to Chari.
The hike featured engaging activities led by our Leadership Scouts, followed by a full day of Zhabtho service at the Tshamkhang construction site. Despite the physically demanding work, our Scouts demonstrated remarkable teamwork, discipline, perseverance, and spirit of service.
A truly meaningful day of learning through action, serving the community, and living the Scout spirit! 🌿💪

🌟 Exploring Careers, Inspiring Futures! 🌟

Today, our Class 9 students put on an incredible Career Fair, transforming our assembly ground into interactive career booths and giving our Class 7–10 students an opportunity to explore different professions in a fun, hands-on way.

The creativity, confidence, and dedication displayed by our students were truly inspiring!

👨‍⚖️ Lawyer – Presented an engaging courtroom drama, allowing visitors to experience what it is like to argue a case.

👨‍🍳 Chef – Conducted a live cooking demonstration, showcasing culinary skills and introducing students to the world of professional cooking.

📊 Quantitative Researcher – Delivered an informative presentation, explaining how mathematics and data are used to solve real-world problems.

🎨 Traditional Artist – Brought authentic Bhutanese artistic tools and materials, demonstrating traditional techniques while sharing the importance of preserving our rich cultural heritage.

🎤 Singer – Captivated the audience with a live performance alongside a beautifully designed stage display that truly brought the profession to life.

🩺 Doctor – Dressed in professional white coats and performed a role-play, giving students a glimpse into the responsibilities and daily life of a medical professional.

✈️ Flight Attendant – Arrived in full uniform and even recreated the familiar in-flight demonstration, making visitors feel as though they had just boarded an aircraft!

💻 Software Engineer – Went above and beyond by designing and coding their very own interactive website, allowing visitors to upload their photo and see themselves transformed into the profession of their choice. An outstanding display of innovation, creativity, and technical skill!

The Career Fair was organized by our Wellbeing Team and provided students with an exciting opportunity to learn about different career pathways while encouraging curiosity, creativity, and future aspirations.

We are incredibly proud of our Class 9 students for the remarkable effort, teamwork, and professionalism they demonstrated throughout the event. Today’s Career Fair was a wonderful reminder that learning becomes truly meaningful when students are given the opportunity to create, explore, and inspire one another.

At KZMSS, we don’t just prepare students for examinations—we prepare them for life. 🌱✨
