On 9th May, 352 YSA members (338 scouts and 14 adult leaders) took part in scouts hike to Pumola. This year our school commissioner, Principal graced the event. It was very fun and also educational for all the scouts who participated in it.
In the morning, all the scouts gathered at the base. We reported in patrol wise and PL took attendance. The session started with mindfullness practice, reciting tashi tseg pa for auspicious begining and singing national anthem and camp anthem. After that our YSA Scout Coordinator briefed us about hiking Do's and Dont's. Then, YSA Commissioner graced the hike by sharing his words of wisdom.
We started singing scout yells and aerobic dance together which made everyone active and energetic. Then at around 7:30 AM, we started climbing up the hill to our destination.
Our first stop was at Canopy 1 where trained leaders were waiting for us. They told us to do meditation for around five minutes. During the mindfulness session, we listened to birds chirping and sounds of nature. It helped us to relax our minds and think about nature and not only the hike.
After that we continued walking to Canopy 2 which was very far from Canopy 1. When we reached there, we had to search for a paper which had a scout decoding code. Our team found the paper in around one minute and we successfully decoded it. The message said that scouting is full of fun activities.
Then after climbing for a long time, we reached Canopy 3. Their facilitators painted black paint on our faces and made sure our group stayed connected together.
Later we climbed again and reached Canopy 4. In this activity, leadership trainers blindfolded us with our scout scarves and guided us to a rope challenge. We had to find the correct way by holding the rope and our group completed it successfully.
After walking more, we reached a Chorten where another activity was conducted by facilitators . We did a commanderβs session where we had to crawl on the ground under threads. Then we also had to do a zombie dance and make loud animal sounds which was very funny and exciting.
Finally, we reached the main monastery temple. There we rested for some time, had tea, and regrouped again. After that there was a competition for the best scout yell and team spirit. Proudly, our team won first position in the competition and we received two big cabbages worth Nu. 5,000 as the reward.
At the end, we came down safely, regrouped again, and said goodbye to everyone before leaving.
Overall, the annual scouts hike was very enjoyable and memorable. We learned teamwork, leadership, mindfulness and also enjoyed many fun activities with our friends.
Thank you.

After the evening prayer, all participants gathered in the assembly courtyard for the Team building session. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation as everyone assembled and prepared for the activities ahead.
The session began with the division of participants into 8 different patrols. Each patrol was organized to ensure teamwork, cooperation, and effective participation throughout the hike. Once the grouping was completed, a headcount was conducted to confirm the presence of all participants and maintain proper records.
Following this, leadership roles were assigned within each patrol. A Patrol Leader and an Assistant Patrol Leader were selected from among the members. These leaders were entrusted with responsibilities such as guiding their team, maintaining discipline, and ensuring coordination during all activities.
After the leadership appointments, the flag-lowering ceremony was conducted with respect and discipline, marking the formal conclusion of the dayβs activities.
Finally, all participants were dismissed and sent home with instructions to prepare for the upcoming sessions. Today's session successfully laid the foundation for teamwork, leadership, and organization for the scout hike.

Todayβs scouting class was a meaningful and engaging session!
We began with a brief assembly and a quick revision of scout laws, reinforcing the importance of discipline and values in our daily lives. The highlight of the session was a live demo of Bjipi Pawo and our Lopen Kinzang Wangdi sharing us its historical and cultural importance. Such lesson was focused on developing our deep understanding of our tradition and culture.
It was encouraging to see such enthusiasm and cooperation among the scouts. The session ended with rehearsing scout song, where students sang the song Daw Namkha and dancing with its tune.
A productive day building responsible, confident, and united scouts!
