International Day of Peace 2026

"Celebrating Peace, Unity and Responsible Citizenship"

On 21st September 2026, our school joined the global observance of the International Day of Peace, celebrated alongside National Earthquake Mock Drill Day. The occasion provided an opportunity for our students and staff to reflect on the importance of peace, unity, cooperation, kindness, and responsible citizenship in building a safe and harmonious school community.

The programme began with the National Anthem, followed by the Scout Anthem, setting a meaningful and respectful tone for the celebration. A presentation on the International Day of Peace was also conducted to help students understand why the day is observed, its significance, and the importance of promoting peace, respect, understanding, and harmony in our homes, schools, communities, and the wider world.

The programme then continued with several significant Scout activities and ceremonies. One of the highlights was the Scarf Awarding Ceremony for Chey Chey Scouts, recognising and welcoming young members into the Scout family. This was followed by the Oath-Taking Ceremony, where the Scouts pledged their commitment to the values and responsibilities of Scouting.

The Proficiency Badges were awarded to Nazhoen Scouts in recognition of their dedication, learning, skills, and achievements in different areas of Scouting. Adding colour and excitement to the celebration, Scout members presented a special group dance, showcasing their talent, teamwork, and enthusiasm.

The celebration also featured a Gadgets Exhibition by the Nazhoen Scouts, where students creatively demonstrated their practical skills, teamwork, and innovative ideas through various Scout gadgets. Students also participated in Games of Sense Organs, making the programme both educational and enjoyable.

The programme concluded with the awarding of prizes to the winners of the Best Gadget Competition, recognising their creativity, effort, teamwork, and practical skills.

As the day progressed, the celebration of peace extended beyond the school programme and into meaningful community action. Towards the evening, all staff and students came together for a mass cleaning campaign within the school premises and nearby community areas.

The cleaning campaign served as a practical expression of the values promoted through the International Day of Peace. Working together to maintain a clean and healthy environment encouraged teamwork, cooperation, respect for our surroundings, and a sense of responsibility towards our community.

And also we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the Toetsho Gewog Thrizin for generously sponsoring the refreshments for the staff and students during the mass cleaning campaign.

Your kind support and generosity contributed to making the community cleaning initiative more meaningful and enjoyable for everyone involved. The school remains deeply grateful for your continued support, encouragement, and commitment towards our school and community.

The day's activities reminded us that peace is not simply the absence of conflict; it is also about living together with respect, caring for one another, taking responsibility, and contributing positively to our community. Through awareness, Scouting activities, creativity, and community service, our students were given meaningful opportunities to practise these values.

National Earthquake Mock Drill Day 2026

“Resilience Starts at Home”

On 21st September 2026, our school observed National Earthquake Mock Drill Day under the theme “Resilience Starts at Home” with the aim of strengthening earthquake preparedness, awareness, and response among our students and staff.

As part of the observance, the school conducted both day and night earthquake mock drills to ensure that emergency preparedness measures were practised in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures outlined in the School Disaster Management Plan. The drills provided an opportunity for students and staff to practise appropriate actions during an earthquake and to strengthen their readiness to respond calmly and safely during an actual emergency.

Adding great significance to the day's activities, we also experienced a real earthquake during the period of the mock-drill activities. This unexpected experience made the importance of earthquake preparedness even more real for our students and staff. It reminded us that earthquakes can occur without warning and that preparedness, awareness, and knowing the correct safety procedures are essential for protecting ourselves and others.

To further mark the day and encourage students to express their understanding creatively, the SDMT conducted a poster competition on earthquake preparedness. The competition was organised into two categories:

Category 1 – Classes IV–VI
“Earthquake Safety: Be Prepared, Stay Safe”

Category 2 – Classes VII–VIII
“My School, My Community: Are We Ready for an Earthquake?”

Through their posters, students demonstrated their understanding of earthquake preparedness, safety measures, emergency response, and the role of individuals, schools, and communities in building resilience.

The main objective of the poster competition was to demonstrate understanding of earthquake preparedness through creative visual representation. It provided students with an opportunity to communicate important safety messages in an engaging and meaningful way.

The top three participants from each category were awarded cash prizes in recognition of their creativity, effort, and understanding of earthquake preparedness.

The day's activities served as a valuable reminder that disaster preparedness is not only about responding to emergencies but also about building a culture of readiness before disasters occur. The experience of conducting the mock drills alongside feeling a real earthquake reinforced the message that resilience truly starts at home—with awareness, preparedness, and the willingness to act safely and responsibly.

SUCCESSFUL VOLLEYBALL OPEN TOURNAMENT 2026

We are delighted to share that our Volleyball Open Tournament, held on Saturday, 19th September 2026, was successfully conducted with great enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and active participation.

The school extends our heartfelt congratulations to all the participating teams for making the tournament exciting, competitive, and memorable. A special congratulations to the winning teams in both the Gents’ and Ladies’ categories for your outstanding performance and achievement.

We sincerely acknowledge and appreciate the participation, support, and sportsmanship of every team and individual who contributed to the success of the tournament. Your presence, enthusiasm, and active participation made the event truly meaningful for our school.

A special note of appreciation goes to our wonderful ladies and gentlemen staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the tournament a success. Our ladies put in tremendous effort in organizing and managing the food stall, while our gentlemen staff worked hard to prepare and set up the volleyball pitch. Your dedication, teamwork, time, and effort are truly commendable and greatly appreciated.

We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Thoetsho Gewog Thrizin for graciously joining us and officially opening the Volleyball Open Tournament. Your presence and support added great significance to the event, and we truly appreciate you taking the time to be part of this special occasion. 🙏

Beyond the sporting spirit, the tournament also provided a valuable opportunity for the school to raise funds. The funds generated will contribute towards supporting the school and benefiting our students by helping us meet various school needs and enhance student activities and programmes.

A big THANK YOU to all the participants, staff, volunteers, supporters, and everyone who contributed in one way or another to make this tournament a success. Your support, teamwork, and generosity mean a great deal to our school and our students.
