This afternoon, the Khuruthang MSS community was blessed with a peaceful and enlightening Choeshay Layrim. The session was organized for staff members and students from Classes VII to X, providing a wonderful opportunity for spiritual reflection and learning to complement our academic journey.

We were deeply honored to have Dr. Chador Phuentsho (PhD), the Vice-principal of Lekshed Jungney Buddhist College, preside over the discourse. His profound teachings and guidance offered our students and staff valuable insights into Buddhist values, ethics, and mindfulness. We are sincerely grateful to Dr. Chador Phuentsho for sharing his wisdom and time with us, helping to nurture the spiritual well-being of our school family.

Yesterday, May 9th, 2026, the Khuruthang MSS grounds were filled with joy and excitement as we held our Kids’ Athletic Event for students from Classes PP to III. The goal of the day was to encourage our youngest learners to enjoy athletics while building important values like teamwork, discipline, and a healthy lifestyle. This successful event was organized by the School Games and Sports Committee, led by SSI Ms. Goma Pradhan, with the support of our school administration and the class teachers of PP to III.
The competition was organized by grade levels, with every child getting a chance to shine in fun and creative races. Our Class PP students participated in the Shopping Race, Get Your Gold, and Ball in the Basket. Class I displayed great energy in the Overhead Ball Pass, Ring Exchange, and Hula Hoop Jump. Class II showed their skills in Cone Stacking, Win the Ball, and Hold the Cup, while our Class III students took on the Water Run Relay, Flip Over, and a challenging Obstacle Race. It was wonderful to see so much spirit and sportsmanship in every single event!
We would like to extend a huge thank you to the parents and guardians of our PP to III students for your incredible support. From the early days of practice to cheering loudly at the final event yesterday, your presence and care made the day truly special for the children. We also want to thank the students of the Games and Sports Club for their hard work and service throughout the day. It was a fantastic day for our little champions!

Khuruthang MSS held two farewell programs to honor the dedicated service of our departing staff members and to wish them the very best in their next chapters.
On May 8th, we gathered for a farewell luncheon for Lopen Dorji Tshering, our esteemed Dzongkha teacher. Lopen joined Khuruthang MSS back in 2014 and has been a vital part of our teaching staff for over a decade. He is now transferring to Walathang Primary School in Punakha. We are deeply grateful for his years of hard work, his dedication to the Dzongkha language, and the guidance he provided to countless students. While we will miss him dearly, we wish him great success and happiness at his new school.
We also recently bid farewell to Mrs. Pelzom, who served as an ESP staff member since 2021. On April 29th, the school community came together to thank her for her service and commitment to keeping our school running smoothly before her resignation.
We sincerely thank both Lopen Dorji Tshering and Mrs. Pelzom for their loyalty and contributions to Khuruthang MSS. You will both be missed, and we wish you nothing but the best for the future!

On April 29th, 2026, the teachers of Khuruthang MSS participated in an insightful Professional Development (PD) program focused on the newly developed Education Management Information System (EMIS). This newly created system was developed by ROM Tech.
The training session was facilitated by our School EMIS Focal, Mrs. Phana Maya Neopany. During the program, all teachers were introduced to the features of the new platform.

Yesterday, Khuruthang MSS hosted a vital awareness and sensitization session on HIV & AIDS, conducted by the dedicated team from LHAK-SAM (Bhutan Network of People Living with HIV). The program was attended by our entire staff and students from Classes VII to X, providing a meaningful platform to discuss prevention, health, and the importance of empathy. It was an eye-opening session that helped our school community understand the realities of living with HIV and the critical need to eliminate social stigma.
The impact of the session was deeply felt by everyone present. In a heartening display of solidarity and compassion, the majority of our staff members pledged to contribute a small amount every month toward LHAK-SAM’s cause. This collective gesture reflects our commitment to supporting those in need and contributing to a more inclusive and informed society.
A huge thank you to the LHAK-SAM team for visiting us and for the incredible work you do across the nation. Together, we can make a difference through awareness and action!

Lhak-Sam, Bhutan Network of People Living with HIV and AIDS BNP+

Yesterday was a truly momentous Teacher's Day at Khuruthang MSS as we honored three of our most senior educators. Principal Madam Haki Wangmo, Mrs. Chimi Zangmo, and Lop Penjor Wangchuk were presented with special gifts by our student leaders and School Management Board (SMB) members on behalf of the students and parents. Each of these teachers has served the nation with incredible loyalty and dedication for over 30 years. While they will be superannuating later in 2026, they are still very much a part of our school family, and yesterday was our way of celebrating their long-standing service.

The celebration was also a time to recognize the academic excellence of our teachers. The school administration and exam committee awarded certificates to teachers who successfully achieved the school target mean in the 2025 Home Examinations for Classes IV, V, VII, and IX. We also celebrated the outstanding results of our Board Examination teachers for Classes VI, VIII, and X BCSE 2025, who surpassed the national subject mean and secured a perfect 100% pass rate. It was a proud moment to see such hard work and high standards being rewarded.

We were also deeply touched to welcome back our graduates from the batches of 2023 and 2025, who joined the festivities to show their gratitude to the school. Having our former students return to celebrate with us reminds us of the lasting impact of our educators. Thank you to the parents, students, alumni, and organizers for making yesterday such a joyful and meaningful day for everyone!
