Building Molecular Research Capacity!
The College of Natural Resources (CNR), through the Centre for Sustainable Mountain Agriculture (CSMA), has commenced a Part-Time Certificate Training in Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics for Biological Research, exclusively for CNR students and staff, running from 18โ30 August 2026.
Designed as a hands-on programme, the training is strengthening practical skills in:
๐งช Sample collection & preservation
๐งฌ DNA extraction, quantification & quality assessment using Nanodrop and Fluorometer
๐ฌ Primer design, PCR amplification & optimization
๐งซ Gel electrophoresis & PCR product purification
๐งฌ Full Oxford Nanopore sequencing workflow
๐ฌ Sanger sequencing workflow
๐ป BLAST & sequence alignment
๐ณ Real-data phylogenetic analysis
The training is conducted after 4:30 PM, allowing students to participate without disrupting their regular classes. The programme brings together enthusiastic future researchers from Food Science and Technology, Animal Science, Forest Science, and Agricultural Science.
At CNR, we continue to invest in developing molecular research capacity across diverse areas of food, agriculture, animal science, and the environment.
