🕊️ Celebrating the International Day of Peace | 21 September

Yonten Kuenjung Academy observed the International Day of Peace with our students through meaningful and engaging activities.

The programme began with an observation of the day led by our Scout focal persons, Lopen Dawa Gyaltshen and Madam Pema Yangzom, followed by the Scout theme and Scout yell.

Students then expressed their thoughts and hopes for peace through a 30-minute peace-themed drawing activity. The celebration concluded with a cleanliness campaign around the school and the surrounding community, promoting responsibility, harmony and care for our shared environment. 🌱🕊️

A meaningful day reminding us that peace begins with our thoughts, words and actions. 💙

🌏 Earthquake Mock Drill Successfully Conducted at YKA

Yonten Kuenjung Academy successfully conducted an Earthquake Mock Drill on 21st September to enhance awareness, preparedness, and safety among our students and staff.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Coordinator Mam Tashi Wangmo, all the teachers, and our students for their active participation, cooperation, and support in making the drill a success.

Such activities help us stay prepared and respond calmly and responsibly during emergencies.

Preparedness today builds a safer tomorrow. 🙏

🌱 Professional Development Programme | 12th September 2026 🌱

Yonten Kuenjung Academy successfully conducted a Professional Development (PD) Programme for all teachers on 12 September 2026, focusing on important areas related to student well-being, protection, discipline and safety.

The sessions covered:

🔹 SEL – Social and Emotional Learning
🔹 CPA – Child Protection Act
🔹 SDL – Student Discipline Guidelines
🔹 Mentor–Mentee Programme
🔹 Early Identification and Safe Referral
🔹 Substance Abuse and Su***de Prevention

The sessions were facilitated by Principal Sir Bidhan Gajmer and Madam Sabina Gurung, providing teachers with valuable insights and practical guidance to better support the overall well-being, safety, and development of our students.

📚 Professional Development Training at YKA 🌟

On 29th August 2026, Yonten Kuenjung Academy (YKA) conducted a Professional Development (PD) Training Programme for teachers, focusing on enhancing their skills, knowledge, and teaching practices.

💻 ICT & Digital Learning
The session on CodeMonkey, Scratch, and micro:bit was facilitated by Mam Kinley Deki and Miss Karma Lhaki, providing teachers with practical knowledge and ideas for integrating coding and digital learning into classroom teaching.

🚨 Disaster Management & First Aid
A session on Disaster Management and First Aid was conducted by Madam Tashi Wangmo, equipping teachers with essential knowledge and skills to respond effectively during emergencies.

📖 Other Educational Programmes
Additional educational and professional learning sessions were conducted by Madam Sonam Kitcho and Lopen Dawa Gyeltshen, contributing to the overall professional growth and development of our teaching staff and remedial support to students.
