Our first-year students successfully underwent an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) before completing their clinical posting at Gomtu Hospital. This initiative was led by Dr. Priyanka Mukhiya, GDMO, with the invaluable support of the staff of Gomtu Hospital.
Despite their demanding responsibilities, staff shortages, and busy schedules, the team dedicated their time and effort to conduct the assessment. The OSCE was organized to evaluate the students' knowledge, skills, and clinical competencies, ensuring they had achieved the expected learning outcomes and developed the necessary competencies appropriate to their level before concluding their posting.
We sincerely thank Dr. Priyanka Mukhiya and the entire Gomtu Hospital team for this thoughtful initiative and for making student learning and professional development a priority. Your support and dedication play a vital role in shaping competent and confident future healthcare professionals ๐

On 28th May, Menstrual Hygiene Day was observed at Norbugang Primary School in collaboration with Renew to raise awareness on menstrual health and adolescent wellbeing. The program aimed to educate students on the importance of maintaining proper menstrual hygiene and promoting healthy practices during adolescence.
Our students, led by Lecturer Ms. Sangay Eden, actively participated in the program by delivering health education sessions focused on adolescent health, with special emphasis on menstrual hygiene care. The sessions covered topics such as physical and emotional changes during adolescence, personal hygiene, proper use and disposal of sanitary pads, handwashing, and the importance of nutrition and self-care during menstruation.
The awareness session provided students with an opportunity to learn and openly discuss menstrual health, helping to reduce stigma and misconceptions surrounding menstruation. Through the collaboration with Renew and the active involvement of Arura students, the program successfully promoted knowledge, confidence, and healthy menstrual hygiene practices among the students of Norbugang Primary School.

On 25th May, we had the pleasure of welcoming back two distinguished alumni, Mr. Karma Tshering (Class of 2019) and Mr. Sonam Tashi (Class of 2023), both of whom previously served as Chief Councillors at Arura Academy.
Currently serving at JDWNRH, Mr. Karma Tshering also works as a PALS Instructor, BLS Instructor, and Palliative Care LEAD Nurse, and Mr. Sonam Tashi as a PALS Instructor. Both alumni are excelling in their respective fields and continue to make us proud through their dedication.
During their visit, they shared valuable insights about their academic and professional journeys, the challenges and experiences they encountered after graduation, and offered advice. Their words were both motivating and meaningful for our students as they prepare to embark on their own careers.
We are grateful to our two alumni for taking the time to return to Arura Academy, where they were once students. Your willingness to give back to your alma mater means a great deal to us, and for that, we remain truly thankful.
In addition to the interactive talk, they also conducted short sessions in their areas of expertise, introducing students to PICU and BLS practices and sharing practical knowledge from the field. Following the session, they toured the campus and reminisced about their memorable days at Arura Academy, making the visit even more special and heartfelt. It was truly inspiring to see them return to campus and reconnect with the Arura community.
To all our Nurses of Arura-NoA, you are most welcome to visit us anytime. We will be happy to have you and catch up :)

A virtual training session on su***de prevention using the QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) approach was conducted today by Philip D. Rash, PhD, Clinical Professor at Brigham Young University, USA, and facilitated by our visiting faculty Dr. Shelly. The session was attended by both teaching and non-teaching staff members, including all our off-site staff.
The training focused on QPR, an evidence-based gatekeeper approach designed to help individuals recognize warning signs of su***de risk and respond effectively. Participants were guided on how to appropriately question individuals who may be at risk, persuade them to seek professional help, and refer them to suitable mental health services for timely support and intervention.
