A Fond Farewell to Our Lead Solar Expert, Mr. Saurabh Motiwala

As Mr. Saurabh Motiwala, Lead Solar Expert with the International Solar Alliance (ISA), completes his assignment with STAR-C at the College of Science and Technology (CST), we extend our sincere appreciation for his exceptional leadership, valuable contributions, and dedicated service.

Working closely with the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (MoENR), Department of Energy (DoE), Royal University of Bhutan (RUB), CST, ISA, and industry partners, Mr. Saurabh led the formulation of STAR-C’s strategic direction and played a central role in translating it into concrete, operational initiatives.

Under his leadership, STAR-C formalised and operationalised hands-on solar PV training for technicians, with a strong focus on practical skills and field-level applications. He also facilitated advanced PVsyst training for engineers, drove strategic partnerships and MoUs with key industry stakeholders, and support the launch of the STAR-C Solar Startup Challenge.

One of his most significant contributions was leading the formulation of the STAR-C Sustainability Strategy Document. Developed through extensive stakeholder engagement, the document provides a clear roadmap for the Centre’s long-term growth, institutional sustainability, partnerships, and impact.

His technical expertise, strategic leadership, professionalism, and partnership-driven approach have strengthened STAR-C’s institutional capacity and visibility within Bhutan’s growing solar energy ecosystem. The initiatives and strategic foundations established under his leadership will continue to guide the Centre’s journey.

Thank you, Mr. Saurabh, for your dedication, leadership, and partnership. We wish you continued success in all your future endeavours.

With gratitude and best wishes,
STAR-C, Bhutan

🌏☀️ Asia-Pacific’s solar market is growing, and the opportunity is expanding.

ISA’s Ease of Doing Solar 2025 assesses 31 countries across policy, finance, infrastructure, technology, and market conditions shaping solar deployment.

The region includes:
🔹 5 Achievers
🔹 9 Influencers
🔹 11 Progressives
🔹 6 Potentials

Encouragingly, 32% of countries rank in the top quartile for infrastructure readiness, supported by investments in grids, energy storage, flexible power systems, and solar capacity. ⚡

But continued fossil-fuel dependence and high per capita CO₂ emissions show that more action is needed to accelerate the transition.

📖 Explore the Ease of Doing Solar 2025 report to understand where the region stands and where the next wave of solar growth can emerge: https://isa.int/publications-learn/ease-of-doing-solar-report-eods-2025

📌 Stay tuned as we bring you updates from the Eighth Meeting of the ISA Regional Committee for Asia and the Pacific Region and explore what’s next for solar across the region. 🌞🌏
