HAPPY TEACHERS’ DAY

Coinciding with the auspicious Birth Anniversary of His Majesty The Third Druk Gyalpo, the Father of Modern Bhutan, our school proudly celebrated Teachers’ Day in the Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH) with great joy and reverence. The celebration brought together all staff members, students from classes PP–XII, ECCD learners, and parents, making it a truly vibrant and inclusive occasion.

The programme commenced with the solemn singing of the National Anthem, followed by the offering of butter lamps and a cake-cutting ceremony in honour of the day. The event then unfolded with a series of colourful cultural performances presented by students, including delightful dance items by our young ECCD learners, which added warmth and charm to the celebration.

To infuse fun and excitement, engaging games were organised for teachers and students alike. A lively Pani-Puru eating competition between lady teachers and captains brought cheer and laughter, while the musical chairs game for male teachers created a spirited and entertaining atmosphere. The hall echoed with joy as students and teachers came together to sing songs, strengthening the bond of unity and appreciation.

A significant highlight of the celebration was the recognition of teachers for their unwavering dedication and commitment. Certificates were awarded to teachers who demonstrated excellence in enhancing academic performance and achieving commendable mean scores and pass percentages in their respective subjects for the academic year 2025.

The celebration served as a meaningful reminder of the invaluable role teachers play in shaping the future of our nation. It was a day filled with gratitude, joy, and inspiration—honouring not just the profession, but the passion and perseverance that define every educator.

Health Talk On Lead Poisoning

The health officials from Bitekha BHU visited the school and presented to the students and staffs on Lead Poisoning. There was a particular emphasis on recent studies showing that Bhutan has a high risk of lead poisoning. Recent studies have raised serious concerns about lead poisoning in Bhutan, revealing that 76% of young children—about three in four—have unsafe levels of lead in their blood. This “silent” health crisis often goes unnoticed, yet it can cause irreversible harm to a child’s brain development, leading to learning difficulties, behavioral issues, and reduced academic performance. Because children absorb lead more easily than adults, even low levels of exposure can have lifelong consequences, affecting not only individual well-being but also the nation’s future human capital.

Addressing this issue requires urgent awareness and collective action. Common sources of exposure may include contaminated soil, dust, lead-based paints, and certain imported or household products. Families, schools, and communities must work together to reduce risks through better hygiene, safer environments, and improved nutrition. At the same time, stronger policies, regular screening, and public education are essential to protect children. Ensuring a lead-safe environment is not just a health priority—it is a responsibility to safeguard the future of Bhutan’s next generation.
