The Gaupel Lower Secondary School Cricket Tournament 2025 was successfully conducted, beginning in May with the Inter-Class Boys matches, followed by the Senior Girls category. In August, the Inter-House Tournament for both boys and girls was held, and finally, the Junior Boys’ Tournament concluded the eventful series in October.
It was an exciting three months filled with enthusiasm and healthy competition. The tournaments provided a great platform for students to showcase their active involvement, discipline, and teamwork, making the event a grand success.
We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Bhutan Cricket Council Board (BCCB) for their generous support in funding and providing certificates, the Dzongkhag Cricket coach, and the School Administration for their constant guidance, and the School Sports Instructor for the tireless effort in organizing and coordinating the events.
A special acknowledgment to all student participants for their active involvement, discipline, and teamwork that made the tournament a grand success.

A homecoming for the ages: gratitude for our valued alumni
On 17th October 2025, Gaupel Lower Secondary School was honored to host a truly special homecoming that spanned over seven decades of our school's rich history. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to a wonderful group of alumni who returned to walk the familiar halls of their youth, accompanied by a truly remarkable guest, Mr. Stuart Filby, their beloved former teacher, who taught them as students in the 1950s.
It was an emotional and inspiring visit for everyone involved. To witness the reunion of former students and their teacher after so many years was a powerful testament to the lasting bonds forged within our school's classrooms. Stories and laughter echoed in the room as they recounted shared memories which is a vivid reminder that a school is not just a building, but a community of enduring relationships. The legacy of teaching and learning that began so long ago was palpable, connecting our past directly to our present.
A Gift That Empowers Our Future
Beyond the joy of their visit, our returning alumni demonstrated extraordinary generosity by presenting a substantial cash donation to the school. This gift, born out of deep appreciation for their education, will be instrumental in upgrading school’s facilities.
We are profoundly grateful for this remarkable act of philanthropy. This donation is not just a sum of money; it is a vote of confidence in our mission and a direct investment in the success of our current students. It ensures that the opportunities afforded to these alumni seven decades ago are not only sustained but enhanced for the next generation of Gaupel graduates.
A Community United by Time
To our returning alumni and their esteemed former teacher: Thank you. Your visit has injected an incredible spirit of pride and connection into our community. It underscores the vital role our graduates play as custodians of the school's history and as catalysts for its future growth.
Your commitment to Gaupel LSS is an inspiration to our present students as it shows them the lasting impact they can have on the institution that shapes their lives. We are immensely proud to call you members of Gaupel family. Your success as distinguished dignitaries is our success, and your generosity lights the path forward.
We look forward to welcoming you and all our alumni to our campus!

Proud moment as our only Kuenden is through to the final. Best wishes.
Pelden Drukpa, Gyalo! 🇧🇹
Another proud moment for Bhutan!
Our very own Pelden Drukpa son, Kuenden Rigsel Dorji, has proven his talent and determination once again by defeating Y. Rajkhowa of Hong Kong in an intense semifinal match.
Kuenden displayed exceptional composure and focus throughout the match, maintaining steady pressure against a strong opponent. His controlled style of play and ability to stay calm during crucial points.
He started strong, taking the first set 6–4 with solid groundstrokes and smart shot selection. However, in the second set, a slight dip in concentration allowed Rajkhowa to bounce back and claim it 3–6.
In the deciding set, Kuenden showed true fighting spirit — regaining his rhythm, playing with precision, and using his consistency to force Rajkhowa into errors. With strategic play and determination, he closed out the final set in style to secure his place in the finals with the score 6/3.
This victory is not just his personal achievement but also a proud moment for Bhutanese tennis.
We wish Kuenden Rigsel Dorji all the very best in the finals and believe he will continue to make Bhutan proud once again! 🇧🇹🎾💪

Good News for Bhutan 🇧🇹
Bhutan celebrates yet another proud moment as Kuenden Rigsel Dorji displayed exceptional grit and determination in the Remarkable Tournament, advancing to the quarterfinals after a thrilling comeback victory.
After losing the first set 3/6 to Das Nishant of India, Kuenden showed true fighting spirit and mental toughness. Regaining his rhythm and confidence, he fought back strongly to win the next two sets 6/4, 6/1.
His performance in the decisive third set was outstanding — dominating rallies, maintaining composure, and turning defense into attack with precision. The match truly reflected his never-give-up attitude and growing maturity as a player.
A big Tashi Delek to Kuenden Rigsel Dorji for this remarkable achievement and for keeping Bhutan’s flag flying high. 🇧🇹 His victory adds another proud chapter to Bhutan’s tennis journey and serves as an inspiration to all young athletes of the country.
Hard luck to his opponent Das Nishant, who played a strong match, but today belonged to Kuenden’s fighting spirit and belief.
The poetry of greatness, words of gratitude, and emotions of thanksgiving were beautifully expressed through poem recitations by our children. With hearts full of excitement and gratefulness, and with a deep sense of respect, we pay tribute to our beloved leaders of the nation. Long live our Great Fourth, our Royal Grandmother, and His Holiness Chabjé Rinpoche. 🙏🙏🙏
