Anti-Bullying Week (10th to 14th August 2026)
Anti-Bullying Week successfully conducted from Monday, 10th August 2026 to Friday, 14th August 2026.
The week-long initiative was organized with the primary objective of creating widespread awareness among students and staff regarding the harmful effects of bullying, while actively promoting a safe, respectful, empathetic, and supportive school environment.
Throughout the week, a series of structured daily programs; including morning speeches, counselor-led mindfulness sessions, classroom briefings using standardized toolkits, mentor-mentee discussions, bilingual assemblies, scout panel debates, and interactive commitment boards, were executed.
Every day focused on a distinct theme that guided students toward meaningful reflection and actionable commitments against bullying.

Day 1: Kick-Off, Mindfulness & Personal Commitments
Date: Monday, 10th August 2026
Commitment Theme: “I Choose to Stop Bullying by….”
• Morning Speech: The Anti-Bullying Week commenced with an inspiring morning speech delivered by student representatives. The speakers emphasized the importance of kindness, respect, and mutual understanding, encouraging peers to actively oppose bullying and cultivate a positive school community.
• Mindfulness Practice: Counsellor Mam Tshering Choki introduced an innovative hand-focused mindfulness technique for both teachers and students, helping participants manage stress, achieve emotional composure, and promote mental well-being.
• Green Board Commitment Launch: A dedicated green board was set up in the campus corridor for personal pledges. To lead by example, the Principal and teachers were the first to write their commitments using chalk.
Students enthusiastically followed during free hours, covering the board with personal promises.

Day 2: Promoting Empathy, Friendship & Class Briefings
Date: Tuesday, 11th August 2026
Commitment Theme: “One Way I Can Support a Friend is…”
• Morning Mindfulness & Class Briefings: The day started with a repetition of the mindfulness practice.
During the morning reading period, class teachers conducted structured briefings utilizing the Youth Engagement Toolkit and visual presentations to highlight the ecosystem of bullying, peer pressure, and constructive support.
• Peer Experience Sharing: Students voluntarily shared personal stories and reflections with their classmates, allowing peers to understand how words and actions directly impact others' feelings and self-esteem.
• Friendship Commitments: Students continued writing pledges on the green board, detailing practical actions to help friends in distress, include isolated classmates, and speak up against unfair treatment.

“Asking Are You OK?”/“Being There for Them”/“Giving Emotional Support”/“Not Being Judgmental…”
Day 3: Mentor Sessions & Understanding Bullying Types
Date: Wednesday, 12th August 2026
Commitment Theme: “If words can hurt, what words can heal…”
• Mentor-Mentee Sessions: School mentors conducted in-depth sessions defining various forms of bullying; physical, verbal, emotional, social, and cyberbullying. Mentors stressed that even subtle remarks can cause serious psychological pain.
• Victim & Bystander Insights: Students courageously spoke about their experiences as victims and bystanders.
The discussions emphasized that bystanders hold significant power to report bullying, offer comfort, and assist victims in seeking help from trusted adults.
• Healing Words Commitment: Teachers and students wrote commitments focused on mindful speech, encouragement, and avoiding hurtful language.

Day 4: Bilingual Assemblies & Scout Panel Discussion
Date: Thursday, 13th August 2026
Commitment Theme: “School is Safe When….”
• Bilingual Morning Assembly: Following the National Anthem of Bhutan, two student speakers delivered engaging addresses in Dzongkha and English. They talked of peer behavior, empathy, and personal responsibility in an accessible manner.
• Scout Period Panel Discussion: In the evening, a structured panel discussion took place during the Scout session. Well-prepared student panelists, guided by a moderator and observer, debated the psychological impacts of name-calling, social exclusion, and proactive intervention.
• Safe Environment Commitments: Students wrote commitments identifying what makes a school environment safe, highlighting open communication with teachers and zero tolerance for harassment.

Day 5 & Conclusion: School-Wide Pledge & Celebration
Date: Friday, 14th August 2026
Commitment Call: “Write 'YES!!!' if you STAND UP and SPEAK UP against BULLYING!”
• Collective 'YES!!!' Declaration: The green board was filled with bold 'YES!!!' responses written by students, teachers, and school leaders, symbolizing a unified, school-wide stand against bullying.
• Closing Remarks: The week concluded on a high note, acknowledging that maintaining a safe and caring school environment is an ongoing shared responsibility.

Anti-Bullying Week was a resounding success due to the active engagement of students, teachers, mentors, and student panellists. The week reinforced that creating a safe, inclusive environment is a shared responsibility.
By choosing kindness, exercising mindfulness, standing up against harassment, supporting peers, and respecting individual differences, Shaba HSS family continues to ensure that every student feels safe, valued, and accepted.
