Our school joined the world in observing the International Day of Peace on 21 September, reflecting on the importance of peace, kindness, respect, and understanding in our everyday lives.

Through meaningful activities and shared reflections, our students were encouraged to recognise that peace begins with each one of us with the words we speak, the choices we make, and the way we treat others.

National Earthquake Mock Drill & Fire Safety Awareness

Our school observed National Earthquake Mock Drill Day with a meaningful earthquake preparedness exercise aimed at strengthening awareness, readiness, and safety among our students and staff. The mock drill provided an opportunity for everyone to practise appropriate safety measures and understand the importance of staying calm and prepared during an emergency.

As part of the programme, we were also privileged to have two fire officers join us for an informative fire safety demonstration and awareness session. They demonstrated the proper use of fire extinguishers and shared valuable information on fire prevention, emergency response, and essential safety precautions. 🔥🧯

The session was both practical and educational, helping our students and teachers gain greater confidence and awareness in responding to emergencies.

A heartfelt thank you to the fire officers for taking the time to educate and empower our school community.

Preparedness today can save lives tomorrow. Let us stay alert, informed, and ready.

The Drukgyel Lower Secondary School family would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to our three amazing and energetic M.Ed. teachers, Ms. Ugyen, Ms. Thinley, and Ms. Chimi on the successful completion of your 45 days teaching practice. Your dedication, enthusiasm, and meaningful contribution to our school and students have truly been appreciated.

We would also like to express our sincere gratitude for the wonderful token of appreciation you have generously contributed to our school. Your thoughtful gesture will always be cherished.

With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to these three wonderful teachers. Although your time with us was brief, you have left behind many wonderful memories and a positive impact on our school community. We wish you every success in your future endeavours.

📚Celebrating Reading Week at Our School!

Our school came alive with enthusiasm, creativity, confidence, and a love for reading as we celebrated Reading Week through a variety of engaging and meaningful activities. 🌟📖

The week provided our students with opportunities to develop their reading, communication, vocabulary, creativity, critical-thinking, and self-expression skills while ensuring that every learner had a chance to participate and shine. 💫

🎤 Class 7 – Mock Interview: Students stepped into the role of interviewees, building their confidence, communication skills, and ability to express themselves.

🗣️ Class 6 – Extempore Speech: Students challenged themselves to think on their feet and confidently share their ideas.

🔤 Classes 4 & 5 – Word Building: Students explored vocabulary and had fun forming and discovering new words.

✏️ Classes 2 & 3 – Spelling Contest: Students showcased their spelling skills while building confidence and enjoying some healthy competition.

🎨 PP & Class 1 – Colouring Contest: Our youngest learners expressed their creativity and imagination through colourful artwork.

📚 Book Reviews by Teachers & Students: Teachers and students shared their thoughts, reflections, and recommendations on books they had read, inspiring one another to discover new stories and develop a deeper appreciation for reading. ❤️

🌈 Activities for Students with Special Needs: Our students participated in meaningful and engaging activities such as identifying pictures and arranging them in the correct sequence, strengthening their observation, sequencing, comprehension, and communication skills.

From books and words to speeches, creativity, and meaningful learning experiences, Reading Week was a wonderful celebration of the many ways reading can inspire, connect, and empower us. 🌟📖

We are incredibly proud of all our students for their enthusiastic participation, confidence, creativity, and effort. A heartfelt appreciation to our dedicated teachers for planning and facilitating these enriching activities and for creating an inclusive environment where every learner can learn, participate, and shine.
