Healthy Mind Resides in a Healthy Body

17th May was marked as a joyful and enriching day with a yoga session organized by the Consulate General of India, 2IC, and his team, Phuntsholing. Our team actively participated in the session, which was coordinated by Madam Sirita Maya Mongar, a gold medalist in 2025, along with her two student partners, Ms. Rinchen Choki and Ms. Shelchang Ongzin of Class VIII.

The time spent by all participants was truly worthwhile as they learned and practiced basic yoga poses. The session was both refreshing and educational, promoting physical well-being and mindfulness among staff and students.

As emphasized in the Bhutan Baccalaureate Education (BBE), the development of all five areas is essential in shaping responsible citizens. Through this program, we particularly focused on Physical, Social, Spiritual, and Emotional Development, which are crucial for holistic growth.

We would like to sincerely thank the Consulate General of India, Phuntsholing, for bringing such an insightful program for our staff and students. We look forward to more such meaningful initiatives in the future.

📚 Professional Development Programme on Social Emotional Learning (SEL) 🌱

Today, after the last period, Gelephu Middle Secondary School conducted a Professional Development Programme on Social Emotional Learning (SEL) led by our school counselor, Tashi Chophel.

The session focused on the importance of nurturing students’ emotional well-being, self-awareness, empathy, relationship-building skills, and responsible decision-making in the school environment.

Teachers actively participated in meaningful discussions and reflections on how SEL can be effectively integrated into classroom teaching and daily interactions to create a positive and supportive learning atmosphere for all learners.

The programme served as an enriching platform for educators to strengthen their understanding of students’ emotional and social needs while promoting holistic education in line with the values of the Bhutan Baccalaureate.

Gelephu Middle Secondary School extends heartfelt appreciation to Counselor Tashi Chophel for leading the insightful session and sharing valuable knowledge with the staff.

Together, we continue to grow as a caring and compassionate learning community. 🌿

14th April 2026 – Annual School Rimdro

We are delighted to share that our Annual School Rimdro for the academic year 2026 was successfully conducted. The occasion was truly special, bringing together students, teachers, parents, and staff in an atmosphere filled with prayer, peace, and unity.

We were deeply honored to have Lam Neten from Talidratshang, Gelephu, preside over the rimdro. Under his gentle guidance, and with the dedicated prayers of the monks, the ceremony was carried out with great calmness and reverence. The sacred rituals uplifted our spirits, brought peace to our hearts and minds, and blessed us with strength and positivity for the year ahead.

This annual rimdro holds great importance in our school community. It helps us stay connected to our rich culture and traditions while fostering a sense of unity among us. It also reminds us of the values of kindness, respect, and mindfulness in our daily lives.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Lam Neten and the monks for their invaluable time, prayers, and support. Their presence made the event truly meaningful and memorable.

We would also like to express our heartfelt thanks to all parents, students, and teachers. Your active participation, support, and contributions—through offerings, volunteering, or simply being present—played a vital role in making this event a grand success.

As we move forward in the academic year, may the blessings of the rimdro continue to guide us. Let us remain united, focused, and compassionate, remembering that together as one school family, we grow stronger and happier.

Parents-Teachers Meeting (PTM) – 4th March

The Parents-Teachers Meeting (PTM), held on 4th March, was conducted successfully with warm and active participation from parents and teachers. The meeting created a positive and welcoming space for open communication, where both parties came together with a shared goal — the holistic development of every child.

During the session, teachers provided detailed insights into students’ academic performance, classroom participation, discipline, and social behavior. Individual strengths were appreciated, while constructive suggestions were shared to help students improve in specific areas. This personalized feedback helped parents better understand their child’s learning journey.

Parents actively engaged in discussions, sharing their observations and concerns, which made the interaction more meaningful and collaborative. The meeting also emphasized the importance of regular study habits, time management, and emotional well-being of students.

In addition, guidance was provided on how parents can support learning at home, encourage reading habits, monitor progress, and motivate their children to become confident and independent learners.

Such PTM sessions strengthen the bond between school and home, ensuring that students receive consistent guidance and support from both sides. Together, we can create a nurturing environment where every child feels valued, supported, and inspired to do their best.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the parents for taking time out of their busy schedules to attend the meeting and for their continuous trust and cooperation.

Let us continue to work hand in hand to shape a brighter and successful future for our children.
