On the occasion of the Birth Anniversary of the Third Druk Gyalpo, which coincides with the National Teachersโ€™ Day celebration, Mr Gopal, Proprietor of Hotel Dejong, and Mr Dilip Rai, Senior Researcher, contributed a smart television each to Damphu Central School.

We wish to express our sincere gratitude to the alumni community for their generous support. Mr Gopal, himself an alumnus of 1985, has seen all his children graduate from the same institution: his daughter Sonia (Alumna, 2007), son Tyson (Alumnus, 2009), and daughter Sonam Lhamo (Alumna, 2023). Mr Dilip Rai, Senior Researcher at the Irish Food Development Authority in Ireland, is also an alumnus of 1986.

Damphu Central School is deeply moved by this gesture of solidarity. The donation of the smart televisions will undoubtedly enhance the teaching and learning experience, elevating it to an unprecedented level.

For the first time in history, Damphu Central School celebrated Teacherโ€™s Day 2026 by simultaneously organising an Alumni Homecoming for all past students. It provided an opportunity for all alumni to visit the school and relive their memories once again. The event was attended by Dasho Dzongda and other distinguished guests, including students who have once been a part of this school. One important guest was Mrs Jaya Basnet, a former teacher at Damphu CS who taught during the 1980s.

The event started off with the lighting of butter lamps, a cake-cutting ceremony and presenting a video with messages from the past students. Various performances, such as dance and live singing, were also performed as part of the entertainment program. Most importantly, the school is grateful to Mr Gopal Giri (Alumnus, 1984 -1985) and his family (Sonia Giri [2007], Tyson [2009, Sonam Lhamo [2023]), and Mr Dilip Rai (Class of 1986) for donating one Smart TV each for the school as a part of the Digital Initiatives program. Mr Dilip is currently serving as Senior Researcher of the Irish Food Authority, Ireland.

Additionally, an e-magazine titled โ€œAlumni Homecoming: Where Stories of the Past Students Reuniteโ€ was also launched on the same day. As the name suggests, pieces of writing were gathered from past students. The school English literary coordinator compiled and edited the stories, whereas the design of the magazine was fully developed by a group of students who graduated the previous year. Soon, once the magazine has been finalised, the school will publish a few copies.

Students who contributed to the magazine and overall program (Class of 2025):
1. Ugyen Tshering XII SCI A
2. Ngaden Jigyel Wangchuk XII SCI A
3. Rajesh Monger XII SCI A
4. Komal Rizal XII SCI B
5. Tashi Phuntsho XII SCI B
6. Sangay Gyeltshen XII SCI B
7. Sherab Pem Sherpa XII SCI B
8. Ramesh Rai XII SCI C
9. Sha Deo S***a XII C
10. Dawa Tshering Rai XII C
11. Tulasi Maya Darjee XII ARTS B

Furthermore, teachers who achieved the national mean mark and 100% pass marks for all the subjects were also awarded certificates by the Tsirang Dzongkhag Administration. Certificates were also awarded to the students academic toppers of the previous year.

The program ended with a visit to the oldest academic block and a simple lunch provided by the school. The program successfully ended.

The School Agriculture Program (SAP) plays an important role in promoting practical learning and agricultural skills among students. As part of the 2025โ€“2026 academic year, the school successfully carried out a potato cultivation project that demonstrated teamwork, planning, and sustainable practices. The seeds for the project were sown in 20 December 2025 after proper preparation of the land.

The initial stages of the project, including soil preparation, seed selection, and planting, were carried out under the guidance of the SAP Coordinator. The school cooks actively supported these activities, ensuring that the process was completed efficiently. Throughout the growing period, regular maintenance such as watering, weeding, and applying organic manure was carried out to ensure healthy crop growth. The continuous monitoring and joint effort of the SAP Coordinator and school cooks contributed greatly to the success of the cultivation.

The harvesting process took place in April 2026 and was mainly carried out by the student members of the SAP Club. This provided students with valuable hands-on experience and helped them understand the importance of agriculture, teamwork, and responsibility. Their active participation made the harvesting process both educational and productive.

The project resulted in a total yield of 563 kilograms of potatoes, marking a significant achievement for the school. The harvest contributed to the schoolโ€™s resources and highlighted the effectiveness of collaborative efforts. Overall, the project was a success and demonstrated the value of integrating practical agricultural activities into the school program, encouraging sustainable practices and skill development among students.
