Alaykha Primary School joined the International Earthquake Mock Drill Day on 21st September 2026, under the theme “Resilience Starts at Home.”

The drill provided our students and staff with an opportunity to practice important safety measures and learn how to respond calmly and effectively during an earthquake. Through such activities, we aim to build awareness, preparedness and resilience among our school community.

A small practice today can make a big difference when it matters most.

We celebrated Reading Week 2026 under the theme “Literacy for People, the Planet and Prosperity.”

The week began with a Reading Week launch and International Literacy Day, followed by a range of engaging activities including DEAR (Drop Everything And Read), classroom read-aloud sessions, and Buddy Reading. These activities gave our students opportunities to read together, support one another, share ideas, and build confidence in reading.

Today, we marked the end of Reading Week with a Closing Celebration. The celebration featured Readers’ Theatre in English and Dzongkha for Classes IV–VI and a Rhyming Competition for PP–III, giving our students a chance to express themselves creatively and enjoy the joy of language.

A big thank you to all our teachers and students for their active participation and for making Reading Week meaningful and enjoyable. More importantly, we hope the habit of reading continues beyond this week.

We had a fun and exciting Inter-House Quiz covering Bhutanese general knowledge, science and technology, history and geography, our school, and some interesting riddles.

This time, we used Kahoot, which made the quiz more interactive and gave our students a chance to learn while using technology. It was also a good way to build their computer and digital literacy.

Our little PP students took their first step in the scouting journey through the Cheychey Scout Investiture Ceremony.

It was a proud moment to see our young scouts make their promise with confidence and excitement. We congratulate all our newly invested Cheychey Scouts and wish them a wonderful journey of learning, kindness, discipline, and service.

A successful Parent–Teacher Meeting and Midterm Result Day was held at Alaykha Primary School, providing a valuable opportunity for parents and teachers to discuss each child's learning progress and work together to support their growth.

We sincerely thank all the parents who took the time to attend and actively participate. Your involvement and encouragement play a vital role in your children's education.

Our students have returned after their midterm break, and it was wonderful to see their smiling faces once again.
The day began with a Wellbeing Programme designed to help students transition smoothly into the new term. The programme featured a presentation on anti-bullying, highlighting the importance of kindness, respect, and creating a safe and inclusive environment for everyone.
Students also gathered with their mentors for meaningful discussions, encouragement, and guidance.
The programme concluded with fun non-conventional games, giving everyone an opportunity to interact, build friendships, and enjoy learning together.
We wish all our students a happy, healthy, and successful term ahead.
