Today, our Deep Creek Middle School students created plankton nets and gathered plankton samples as part of their food security unit, which is investigating how science can help address food insecurity in The Bahamas. This week, they’ve been looking at marine food webs and productivity to understand fisheries management and how to maximize yield with food crops.

Looks like a pretty good first day of work to us!

The newest members of our team kicked the day off with an early morning trip to the sandbar just off our campus, where they took a moment to ground themselves, appreciate their surroundings, and learn about ooids from Maxey.

We are excited to welcome these educators, scientists, and creatives to our team. We'll spend the next few weeks getting campus ready...our students will be here before we know it!
