English fires the imagination, feeds creativity and produces thinkers. We live in a rapidly changing and complex world, an age of information. A degree in English helps to develop independent, analytical thinkers and confident communicators, qualities of highly effective leaders in any given career. Thus, the study of English Language and Literature will improve students' understanding of local, r

egional and world culture, will foster self-knowledge and moral values and help them understand, appreciate and effectively respond to differing world-views. In short, it will enhance their ability to process the varied perspectives that exist in our rapidly changing world and provide them with skills and attitudes essential for life in a complex and interdependent world.
