You missed a dandy if you didn’t attend the ball, the SAC Alumni Lighthouse Award and Gala Ball on Saturday, October 19, 2024! For those who came out, I know you can attest to our incredible time. Trust me, you don’t want to miss next year’s ball or any exciting events we have in store! We lit up the Atlantis Ballroom under the theme "Junkanoo Masquerade: Celebrating the Big Red," Let me tell you, the night was pure magic. The energy was electric, the vibe was unmatched, and it was nothing short of spectacular! ✨

We kicked things off with none other than the winningest group, The Valley Boys Junkanoo Group, and yes, there is only one Valley Boys! Of course, we kept the party going with the amazing Essence Band, ensuring the dance floor stayed packed all night. I told y’all to bring your dancing shoes, but some of you didn’t listen! 😅 I had to ditch my heels and slip into flats to keep up! 💃

And can we talk about the food and drinks? Absolutely on point! The open bar flowed, and I’m sure you and your guests enjoyed every sip. 🍹 The cocktail party was a real treat, with the talented Garvin Tynes Choir serenading us and setting the perfect tone for the evening.

We also made history together, family! For the first time, we had both SAC’s past and current principals in attendance, along with their staff, faculty, and the SAC Board. This was indeed a new beginning for us, and with your support, we will take these events to even greater heights.

But listen, the celebration doesn’t stop here. The SAC Alumni Association needs YOU; of course, SAC needs our unwavering support. We can’t do this without our dynamic alumni family! We look forward to seeing your alumni dues next year, your presence at future events, and your generous financial and in-kind support. If you couldn’t attend the ball, don’t worry—you can still contribute to the SAC Alumni Tuition Grant Program. Together, we will keep this SAC family stronger than ever! 💪

Just a few reminders:

Please mark your calendars for November 9 as we partner with SAC for the Uncle Lou Fun Run Walk, Souse-out, and Back to SAC Grill-out on campus. Please spread the word, and let’s keep this SAC family united and growing!

My fellow alumni, I love and appreciate each of you, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to serve as your president. Thank you for trusting me to help transform the SAC Alumni Association. As our Title Sponsor perfectly put it, let’s never forget who helped us achieve success—outside of God, who makes all things possible, it’s our SAC family. Now it’s our turn to give back to the best school in the world, SAC.

With deep gratitude,
Dr. Anastasia Brown,JP
President, SAC Alumni Association
