Tune in This Thursday for The Pro Gallery's dialogue series with historian Patricia Glinton-Meicholas and curator Keisha Oliver for their discussion on Bahamian art in the 80s-90s.

The Pro Gallery at the University of The Bahamas is pleased to begin its virtual programming for the MasterMinds exhibition with a dialogue series featuring prominent figures in Bahamian art. Guests will join curator Keisha Oliver covering themes surrounding the exhibition and Bahamian visual culture of the 80s and 90s.

The series begins Thursday, 14 October with "Dialogue with a Historian" featuring Bahamian writer, historian, and art critic Patricia Glinton-Meicholas. The event will go live on the gallery's social media pages at 6pm EDT. For more information email [email protected].

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY FOR BAHAMIAN COLLEGE STUDENTS!

The Caribbean Country Department (CCB) is looking for an active undergraduate student with a communications background to be hired as a Winter Intern under the Consultant modality to provide support in the organization of a high-level meeting that will be held in February 2022.

Applicants must be active third year or above undergraduate students working toward bachelor’s degrees in areas related to communications, journalism, graphic design, technology in an accredited University. The graduation date cannot be prior to March 15, 2022.

Congratulations to Assistant Professor of Art and Art Education Kishan Munroe who is part of the Bahamas Pavilion team for Expo 2020 in Dubai. The opening of the event was held on October 1st, 2021.

Munroe is working alongside Assistant Professor of Architecture Val Pintard-Flax and the team including: Michael Diggis (Senior Project Manager & Architect), Janet Johnson (Director of Development) and Nameiko Miller (Pavilion Curator) and Ambassador Tony Joudi Commissioner General.

A first participation in a World’s Fair for our nation, the two-storey pavilion traces The Bahamas’ rich cultural history, explores its sustainability-driven future and highlights our nature’s playground with all its mystery, ferocity and beauty. Visitors will explore exciting and interactive displays, see an actual Bahamian sloop, loaned courtesy of Baha Mar; paintings and sculptures by our local artists and artisans and have the opportunity to purchase souvenirs in our retail area.
