Grade 5 is stepping into their Unit of Inquiry “Where We Are in Place and Time” through provocations designed to spark wonder, challenge assumptions and open up possibilities for inquiry.

In the Primary Years Programme, “Provocations” give students something to investigate before the answers are offered, encouraging them to notice, make connections and ask questions that help shape their learning.

If you’ve ever wondered what all those acronyms your Dragon brings home actually mean, here’s your cheat sheet.

The reason it can feel like its own language is that the IB is built around a way of learning designed for the world students are growing into. It goes beyond traditional subject knowledge to develop the critical thinking, adaptability, collaboration, inquiry and independence that a rapidly changing 21st-century world demands.

And while there may be a few acronyms to learn along the way, understanding them helps us better understand the purpose behind the learning.

Our New Family Orientation gave our newest Dragons and their families the chance to explore campus, meet teachers and fellow families, ask questions, and get a feel for the community they are now a part of. Starting at a new school is a big step, and we’re excited to see these students find their place, discover new opportunities, and make LCIS their own.
