We are pleased to welcome the newly appointed board of the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI). Under the chairmanship of Torez Hanna, we look forward to the vision and leadership of the new board as we continue building a stronger future through education, training and skills development.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, the Honourable, I. Chester Cooper and Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Education, Senator, the Honourable, Keenan Johnson met with the board during its inaugural meeting. The meeting provided an opportunity for Minister Cooper to outline the government’s vision and expectations for the board as it begins its tenure.

Meet the Board

Senior management, Deans, Heads of Departments and faculty had the opportunity to meet our new Chairman, Torez Hanna, along with a few members of the Board during a Meet and Greet today.

Chairman Hanna underscored the importance of BTVI fulfilling its mandate as outlined by the Government of The Bahamas, while emphasising the value of teamwork and open dialogue.

He expressed his desire to continue fostering meaningful conversations that take into consideration the concerns, ideas and aspirations of the BTVI team as we work together towards a stronger future.

Other board members present were Davon Munnings, Ifedayo Bethel-Sears and Lionel Sands.

🎓 Welcome to BTVI! New students in Grand Bahama and the Family Islands are invited to Fall 2026 New Student Orientation on Tuesday, August 25 at 10:00 a.m.

📍 Grand Bahama students will meet at the GBBC Auditorium, while Family Island students should attend at their respective local BTVI sites. Advisement begins immediately following orientation.
