The Advisors of Boys and Girls Empowerment Club of L. W. Young Jr. High School left the brick and mortar halls of The Eagle’s Nest and journeyed to western New Providence where we stepped into the historical landmark, Clifton Heritage and I joined them 😉.
We were warmly greeted by our tour guide and former “in school” educator Mrs Joanna Parker whose discipline was history and geography making her not only knowledgeable of the history being preserved at the site but as a teacher sharing her knowledge outside of the “classroom”.
For me the tour was eye an opening reminder of how far we have come and it was filled with so much information about The Bahamian people - our history and our heritage. I was so glad to share in this experience.
Although I have included some clips, I highly encourage all and sundry to visit The Clifton Heritage site, take a tour for yourselves and with your children because a look back at who we are as Bahamians can be experienced there.
Clifton Heritage National Park has a lot to offer from a rich History, to a memorial of HERstory, green spaces, beautiful beaches and flora and fauna. There is really something for everyone and the team has curated guided tours to meet your needs.
