RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DEVOTIONAL

HIS TIMING IS PERFECT

FRIDAY, 18TH OCTOBER 2024

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).

The Bible talks about some who scoff and mock at the truth: "…in the last days there will come scoffers who will do every wrong they can think of and laugh at the truth” (2 Peter 3:3 TLB). For example, they mockingly ask, "Jesus promised to come back; we’ve been hearing that for generations; where is He? He'll never come!"

They fail to realize that God's sense of time is not like ours. Take 2 Peter 3:8 as an example; Peter reminds us not to be ignorant of one crucial truth: "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." When God communicates a message to you in a certain way and then repeats it in reverse, He’s emphasizing that these are not exaggerations or generic statements. What He’s indicating is that, in prophetic language, a day can represent a thousand years, and a thousand years can be like one day.

The reason Jesus hasn’t come isn’t that God is “delaying” or that He forgot He said Jesus would come. Rather, He’s being patient. He’s not willing that anyone should perish but wants everyone to come to repentance. How gracious the Lord is! 2 Peter 3:15 further emphasizes this; it says for us to account, reckon that the longsuffering (patience) of our Lord is for the salvation of men.

The seeming delay is directly tied to God's desire for salvation. Every moment He waits is another opportunity for someone to turn to Him and be saved. This understanding should stir your heart to share the Gospel with urgency, knowing that God's timing is perfect, and His patience is an extension of His love.

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for your patience, giving people all over the world the opportunity to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth as it’s in the Gospel. May the message of the Gospel, like never before, have free course, and salvation spread into every corner of the earth, unhindered, until the full numbers of the Gentiles come in, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

FURTHER STUDY

2 Peter 3:8-9 NIV
8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.
9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

Hebrews 10:37
For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.

Matthew 24:14
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

*RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL*

*BORN WITH THE DIVINE LIFE*

Tuesday, October 15th.

Pastor Chris

_*Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever (1 Peter 1:23).*_

Many haven't fully grasped who a Christian is; they think a Christian is a mere follower of Jesus Christ; no! A Christian is someone who’s born of the Word and has the life of the Word. James 1:18 NKJV says, _*"Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures."*_ Recall what the Bible says concerning Jesus, _*“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us…”*_ (John 1:14 NKJV); we were also born in the realm of the Spirit of the same Word.

When you received the Word of God—the Gospel of Jesus Christ—into your spirit, the life that He promised was imparted to your spirit. From that moment, you were awakened to the fatherhood of God. The nature of death ceased, and the life of God took on its operation in your spirit. You became one nature with God. This helps you understand why the Bible says we’re partakers of the divine nature—associates of the Godkind: _*“Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust”*_ (2 Peter 1:4).

1 John 5:11-12 says, _*“And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.”*_ Life here is the divine life, the God-life; it supplanted your human life when you were born again. The life inside you isn’t the same as the one inside your next-door neighbour who isn’t a Christian. Outwardly, you may look the same, but the life in you is divine, impregnable, indestructible and indomitable.

1 John 4:4, _*“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”*_ The phrase “Ye are of God” means you hail from God, your origin is divine and so is your life. Blessed be God!

*CONFESSION*

*I’m born of God’s incorruptible seed—the Word—therefore, I have the life of the Word and walk in the consciousness of my divine nature. The divine life in me has made me indomitable, indestructible and superior to Satan, circumstances and the elements of this world. I am victorious, and I fully manifest the glory of God every day and in every place, in Jesus' Name. Amen.*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||* *Romans 6:4* Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. *||*

*||* *John 1:12-13* But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. *||*

*||* *1 John 5:11-13 NIV* And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. *||*

*FERVENT IN SOUL WINNING*

Monday, October 7th.

Pastor Chris

_*...the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day (Proverbs 4:18).*_

In Matthew 5:16, the Lord Jesus said, _*“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”*_ The Bible says in Romans 12:11, _*“Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord.”*_

Serving the Lord as the above verses say, the passion and inspiration of the Spirit in your life is contagious. It overflows and becomes a source of inspiration for those around you. You naturally become a soul winner. When you speak, you pour out spirit and life, impacting your hearers with the power and blessings of the Gospel of Christ.

Now, that inspiration is something you must maintain. And one of the ways to maintain it is keeping yourself filled with the Spirit always as Ephesians 5:18-21 teaches (study the entire reference). When you’re filled with the Spirit, you proclaim the Word of God with boldness. That’s the evidence of being filled with the Spirit as seen in the lives of the Apostles (Acts 4:31).

When you’re truly inspired by the Holy Spirit, you’re a bold and effective witness for Jesus Christ; you never stop winning souls. True soul winners don’t retire or grow weary in their mission; they’re forever active doing the Lord’s work. 1 Corinthians 15:58 says, _*“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord….”*_ Your soul-winning efforts should always be on the increase because you’re filled with the Spirit.

If you were winning three souls per week, you should aim to increase that number, perhaps to 10, or maybe even 30. Maintain your zeal and fervour for soul winning. Remember, soul winning is God’s heartbeat; it’s the most important assignment that He committed to our trust. Therefore, do it with passion, diligence and in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Nothing we do on earth has meaning or value in heaven except that which is connected to the cause of the Gospel; Help build the faith of others to become more effective by sponsoring FREE copies of Rhapsody, click here https://bit.ly/ReachOutWorldday

*PRAYER*

*Dear Father, thank you for the privilege of being a soul winner. I am inspired by your Spirit to continually share the Gospel with those around me. I refuse to grow weary or retire from this divine calling. Your Word flows through me like rivers of living water, bringing life and salvation to those in my world, in Jesus' Name. Amen.*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||* *Proverbs 11:30* The fruit of the righteous [is] a tree of life; and he that winneth souls [is] wise. *||*

*||* *Mark 16:15* And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. *||*

*||* *John 15:16* Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and [that] your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. *||*

*YOU GIVE LIGHT TO THE WORLD*

Thursday, September 5th.

Pastor Chris

_*As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world (John 9:5).*_

On a certain day as Jesus passed by, he saw a man who was blind from birth. His disciples, who were with Him, asked if the man’s blindness was a result of his sin or his parents’ sins. But Jesus replied that it had nothing to do with either the man’s or his parent’s sin (John 9:3). But then He made a remarkable statement in the fifth verse: _*“As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”*_

After saying this, Jesus did something mind-blowing: He spat on the ground, made clay with the spittle, and rubbed it into the man’s eyes. Historians tell us the man wasn’t just blind; he had no eyeballs but empty sockets. Jesus performed a miracle by turning clay into eyes, having said, _*“As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”*_ Do you know what this means?

Every time Jesus used that expression, “I AM”, He was reiterating what God said to Moses when he asked, “What is your name?” and God said, “I AM.” God was saying to Moses, “I am whatever you need me to be. If you need deliverance, I am your deliverance. If you need salvation, I am your salvation. If you need healing, I am your healing. What is it you need? I AM.”

So, when Jesus said, “I AM…,” He was saying the same thing God said: “I am what you need.” He saw a man who didn’t have eyes and said, “I am the light of the world.” Remember what the Bible says, _*“The light of the body is the eye...”*_ (Matthew 6:22, Luke 11:34). So, Jesus was saying, “I am the eyes of the world. Without me, the world can’t see.” Right away, He proved it and gave the man eyes.

Now, here’s the most intriguing part: the same Jesus said, _*“Ye are the light of the world…”*_ (Matthew 5:14). That means, just like Him, you give “eyes”—sight—to the world! Without you, the world can’t see. You give direction, clarity, and vision to the world. Even now, boldly declare, “I am the light of the world!” It means that when you go out and meet someone who is down, you can lift such a person up. Someone can have his eyes restored just because you showed up; someone who was sick can get healed. Hallelujah!

*PRAYER*

*Dear Father, you’ve made me a light in this world; equipped and empowered to bring hope, healing, and deliverance to those around me. Your light in me dispels darkness. Thank you for making me an oasis of love and a haven of peace, joy, hope and faith in a troubled world; what a privilege! Thank you Father, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||* *Matthew 5:14-16* Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. *||*

*||* *Ephesians 5:8* For ye were sometimes darkness, but now [are ye] light in the Lord: walk as children of light: *||*

*||* *Philippians 2:15* That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; *||*

*IT’S A GOOD FIGHT*

Wednesday, September 4th.

Pastor Chris

_*Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses (1 Timothy 6:12).*_

Whether you know it or not, as a Christian, you’re in a fight. Some people don’t like to hear this because they’re just not willing to fight. Instead, they hope that things will somehow just fall into place. No! You’ve got to fight. Why? Because there’s an adversary working to ensure that things don’t fall into place for you.

Understand that the world is hostile to your faith; it’s hostile to the Kingdom of God. Jesus, however, said, “Cheer up; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). So, we’re not trying to overcome the world; we already did in Christ Jesus and keep it in that position with our faith. The Bible says our faith is the victory that triumphs over the world: _*“For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith”*_ (1 John 5:4).

Now you can understand why He tells us to fight the good fight of faith. Faith is the victory, so always see with the eyes of faith. See the end from the beginning and stay focused on the Word, knowing that no matter what happens, your victory is guaranteed. It’s called the good fight of faith because you always win.

Here are three important things to note as you fight the good fight of faith: refuse to consider sensory perceptions and focus on the Word. Secondly, keep renewing your mind with the Word, and let it be your motivation (Romans 12:2; James 1:25). Then, meditate on the Word to deepen its impact in your life (Joshua 1:8). Hallelujah!

*PRAYER*

*Dear Father, I thank you for the victory you’ve given me in Jesus Christ. I stand firm in the authority you've given me, knowing that no weapon formed against me shall prosper. Thank you for the divine life in me, working in every fibre of my being. I'm victorious in every situation, in Jesus' Name. Amen.*

*MAKE KNOWN HIS WONDERFUL DEEDS*

Tuesday, September 3rd.

Pastor Chris

_*O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people (Psalm 105:1).*_

There’re people who always share testimonies. When they’re in church and the Pastor asks if anyone has a testimony to share, they’re always the first to respond. How is it that some people are so blessed that they always have testimonies? The answer is in Isaiah 12:3-4, _*“Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD….”*_

Did you see that? Their hearts are usually full of praise. What’s praise? Praise is the fruit of our lips—giving thanks to the Lord. This is even clearer in the English Standard Version: _*“And you will say in that day: Give thanks to the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the peoples, proclaim that his name is exalted”*_ (Isaiah 12:4 ESV).

Notice that it says, “make known his deeds”; in other words, testify! Grateful people always testify; they always have something to say that God has done for them. They’re always bubbling with joy. What kind of a person are you? Be sure that you’re a testifier. Always share your testimonies of what the Lord has done in your life.

1 Peter 2:9 tells us something beautiful; it says, _*“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; THAT YE SHOULD SHEW FORTH THE PRAISES OF HIM who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.”*_ Notice the underlined part; you were called, that is, ordained to show forth His praise; to declare His mighty works. Hallelujah!

Therefore, always testify of His love, His grace, His faithfulness and loving kindness that you enjoy every day. Be grateful to Him that He causes you to triumph always and in every place through Christ Jesus. Remember, winners are always full of joy and thanksgiving.

*PRAYER*

*Dear Father, you’re great and glorious; you’re righteous, holy, just, true and pure. Your works are eternal, and so are your tender mercies and grace. I worship you for your faithfulness and goodness that are evident in my life. You’re exalted above all, the great King of all, the Creator of all things. Thank you, for not only have you conferred your Kingdom on me, you’ve expanded the Kingdom in me. Hallelujah!*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||* *Isaiah 12:4 NIV* In that day you will say: "Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted. *||*

*||* *1 Chronicles 16:8-9* Give thanks unto the LORD, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the people. 9 Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works. *||*

*||* *Psalm 96:2-3* Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day. 3 Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people. *||*

*||* *Psalm 106:1* Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for [he is] good: for his mercy [endureth] for ever. *||*

*DON’T SAY IT’S NOT WORKING*

Monday, September 2nd.

Pastor Chris

_*A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh (Luke 6:45).*_

When you speak, things happen. Your words are powerful; they create or destroy. The Bible says death and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). This is the reason we emphasize speaking right; affirming God’s Word on all occasions. What you say is what you get.

Ponder again what we read in our opening scripture; through the words you speak, you bring forth good or evil, life or death, sickness or health, poverty or wealth. It’s up to you. It’s about what you say. You may say, “I’ve been speaking, but nothing has been happening.” Who told you nothing has been happening? That’s like planting your seeds and digging them out of the ground before they grow. Seeds don’t germinate overnight; but once they’re planted in the right environment, they most certainly will grow. Words are seeds.

Therefore, you have to keep speaking the Word. Like we often say, “Keep saying it; don’t stop talking it!” When you affirm the Word, it works. In Isaiah 55:10-11, the Lord said, _*“For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”*_

This shows the power, immutability, impregnability and infallibility of the Word of God. Are you aware that your words hold the same power? Remember, you’re like Him; you’re created in His image and in His likeness. As He is, so are you in this world (1 John 4:17). The Word of God in your mouth is God talking. Quit thinking it’s not working. Don’t allow Satan to get you into the sense-realm of trying to observe lying vanities. The Bible says, _*“They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy”*_ (Jonah 2:8).

*CONFESSION*

*When I speak, it comes to pass, because my words are powerful; they produce what I say, because I speak from God and speak His Word. My life is a testimony of God’s goodness, love, mercy and grace; I’m the proof of His equity, and I walk in His righteousness, in divine health, prosperity, peace and joy. Amen.*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||* *Mark 11:23* For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. *||*

*||* *Proverbs 18:21* Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. *||*

*||* *Matthew 12:37* For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. *||*

*SPIRITUAL OVERSIGHT AND STEWARDSHIP*

Wednesday, August 28th.

Pastor Chris

_*And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation (Luke 19:44).*_

I want you to observe the word “visitation” in our theme scripture. Some have the idea that Jesus was talking about a mere “visit,” but that’s not it. That word is translated from the Greek "Episkopē," which conveys the meaning of "bishoprick" also spelt as "bishopric" or the office of an overseer. An overseer has something to watch over and take care of.

This sheds light on the Lord’s statement. The Jews weren’t watchful, hence missed the time of their visitation. It also brings to mind God's command to Adam to "dress and keep” the Garden of Eden (Genesis 2:15), signifying their responsibility to watch over and care for the garden.

Similarly, the Lord Jesus urged His disciples to "watch and pray" (Matthew 26:41, Mark 13:33). As the Church of Jesus Christ, we must be vigilant and attentive to our spiritual responsibilities. Individuals and nations today may face dire consequences if we neglect our responsibility to watch over their spiritual condition by interceding for them.

Matthew 26:41 AMPC says, _*"...Keep awake (give strict attention, be cautious and active) and watch and pray…."*_ 1 Timothy 2:1 says, _*“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men.”*_ To not carry out this instruction from the Lord means you’re not fulfilling your “bishopric,” your responsibility to watch over your nation and the people.

We have an understanding of God's Word and can discern the signs of the times; therefore, we must be watchful! Remember what the Bible says in Ezekiel 3:17, _*“Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.”*_ We’re watchmen and women, and one of the ways we watch over and take care of God’s creation is through prayers. Paul reiterated this when he said in 1 Thessalonians 5:17, _*"Pray without ceasing."*_ Also, in Colossians 4:2, he admonished, _*"Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving."*_

Through prayer and spiritual discernment, we thwart the plans of darkness and usher in God's peace where there had been turmoil. Never undermine the importance of your spiritual oversight and stewardship in these last days!

*PRAYER*

*Dear Father, I recognise the significance of my role as a watchman, and I thank you for the authority you’ve vested in me to keep the devil and his cohorts in check. I terminate their evil, vicious and malevolent activities in my environment and declare that only your peace and prosperity reign in and around me, in Jesus' Name. Amen.*

*FURTHER STUDY:* *||* *1 Timothy 2:1-4 NIV* I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. *||*

*||* *Acts 20:28* Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. *||*

*||* *Ezekiel 3:17 NIV* "Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. *||*
