Students, teachers, and administrators are awaiting with great anticipation for a new school year to begin!

A few reminders going into the new school year (in no particular order):

1. We are all on the SAME team!

2. Relations between parent/guardian, student, and teacher must always be transparent and strengthened (we call it a 'Triage' relationship' or a 'symbiotic relationship')

3. The most important goal and/or objective is for the student to attain such; whether incrementally or by leaps & bounds.

4. Validate & praise your child/children when they improve in academics and/or behavior

5. DO NOT speak ill of a teacher/administrator in the presence of your child/children.

*This only destabilizes the 'triage' relationship and breeds room for confusion.
*Children then take on the attitudes of the parents/guardians in this regard, and bring the same into the classroom; which then causes disruptions and distractions.

6. Teachers should always make themselves available to parents/guardians, within a reasonable timeframe after school hours.

*This helps to strengthen the 'triage' relationship and develop trust.

7. Parents/guardians are to do their best to assist their child/children with completing homework properly, accurately, entirely, and submit the same on time.

*If a parent/guardian is having difficulty with assisting their child/children, they ought to reach out to the teacher for guidance or invest in 'after school' tutorials.

8. Parents/guardians are NOT to complete any homework and/or assignments (projects) for their child/children.

*This does not allow the student to think critically, be independent, and to retain what they should be learning.
*A consequence of this is that while they may receive a 100% grade, they are unable to regurgitate, explain, or validate what they submitted.

9. Teachers should allow some grace to students who may demonstrate a lack of certain capabilities, in relation to learning delays/gaps, and even behavioral issues.

*This is where parents/guardians and administrators should be included and involved in any matters such as these.

10. Parents/guardians, ALWAYS familiarize yourselves with the school's Handbook. Ensure that your child/children are also familiar with its contents.

11. Attend PTA's or Parent-teacher conferences as often as possible.

*If you're unable to attend, send a representative in your stead. This allows you to still be informed and aware of what is going on with the student and the school.

12. Great teachers sacrifice a lot for your child/children to maximize their potential. Reciprocal respect is high priority.

13. Ensure students have ALL textbooks and tools needed, not only at the beginning of the school year, but throughout the school year.

*Students can not effectively and efficiently complete their tasks without the necessary tools needed to do so.

14. Daily '20 minute' study and review, three times a day, can be helpful in retaining information.

*Students can study in various ways other than reading: YouTube, Google, interactive programs, worksheets, etc.

15. Teachers should be able to observe the type of learner a child is, so that they can create effective ways of teaching that student.

16. For those students who may have learning disabilities, DO NOT count them out!

*Parents/guardians, teachers, and administrators, should seek ways to work together with the student. therapists, counselors, etc.; to assist the child/children in maximizing their potential.

17. We are all on the SAME team!

There are so many other reminders. However use the above information as a guideline for the best results this school year!

Best wishes to all!
