In a few weeks we will be celebrating our 50th Independence . Here is a poem written by our proprietor

Sun Sand and Sea
What a beauty to see
Sun Sand and Sea
Let me tell you what it means to me

The Sun the golden rays
When visitors come it's hard not to stay
A dip in the ocean can change your mood
Your body feels so relaxed the locals rush for food
The white sands takes you away
No matter the day, it's always a beach day

Understand that these islands mean everything to me.

Happy Independence my beautiful Bahama Land
The Road to fifty we all walk hand and hand
This journey was not easy
But with God we can rise and truly believe that our
Sun Sand and Sea was God's gift to humanity 🙏

I love to see when the lightbulb comes on in my student's eyes when I am teaching ...it shows that I have effectively taught a concept and they have gotten it.

Just wanted to say hello to all of my new followers.

My name is Mary Fitzgerald and I am a Structured Literacy Specialist. I was born and raised on the island of New Providence. The dream of becoming a Reading Specialist was placed on my heart while I was in college in Knoxville Tennessee. Upon graduating college, I was torn between staying in the USA or returning home to help combat the illiteracy problem in The Bahamas.

After much prayer and counsel from my now husband I returned home and started Mary's Tutoring Services where I have been working to help children and adults become avid readers.

The journey has been beautiful with an 90% success rate in examination results 85% success rate in improving Reading levels.The most exciting part is I get to shape the minds of the next generation! God is truly faithful

Today I allowed my student to choose his own topic and write a story on it

The prompt he came up with was

I walked into the Science lab and saw a bottle of potion I drank it and this what happened next..........

His story was entertaining 🤣. I promise you allow these students to use their imagination because they can be very creative.

This is why we do what we do . Literacy matters----Almost All A's!!!!
