Today is Teacher's Day in Brazil. I'd like to wish a great day to all fellow teachers out there! Teaching isn't exactly a walk in the park, neither the most lucrative business; but it can be really rewarding. And we never know how deeply we affect our students' lives! Organizing my drawer, I unearthed this lovely thank-you card I received from one of my peers on the CELTA course I took some years ago. She had been struggling to deliver a successful lesson, and one night, on our way to the subway station, she told me how disappointed she was with her own performance. I felt deeply sorry for her, tried to soothe her, and offered to help her plan the following lessons. She accepted my help.
On the last day of the course, she surreptitiously dropped this card—along with a chocolate bar—into my bag as a token of her gratitude. My heart was warm and full of appreciation when I read it. Only great people are capable of expressing their gratitude—but it takes even more greatness to acknowledge your shortcomings and ask for help.

After two years without attending a teachers' event, I finally took part in a wonderful one last Saturday, promoted by . I had the chance to reconnect with dear friends, and also meet some of the professionals I admire in this field. Special mention to and whose talks I attended and left feeling full of ideas.

A empresa onde uma das minhas alunas trabalha promoveu um dia trabalho voluntário e os funcionários tiveram que trabalhar por um dia numa estação de reciclagem. Perguntei para minha aluna o que ela aprendera com a experiência e ela me disse: lavar as embalagens destinadas ao lixo reciclável! Segundo ela, leva -se muito tempo até as embalagens chegarem à estação de reciclagem, então o resíduos de comida nas embalagens se decompõem e o odor atrai muitos urubus, que atrapalham o trabalho dos recicladores, já que estes perdem bastante tempo espantando os urubus para conseguir trabalhar! Desde então, passei a lavar(Só com água mesmo) as embalagens que coloco no lixo reciclável! Por favor, façam o mesmo! Imaginem o odor que eles têm que lidar no trabalho e desgaste por ter que disputar com os urubus as embalagens.
