Naming emotions isn’t magic — it’s practice (and science). 🧬
We know that in stressful moments, it’s not easy to stop and name what a child is feeling. But every time we do it, we help their brain learn how to regulate itself.
Research shows that naming emotions decreases amygdala reactivity and activates areas of the brain responsible for self-control (Siegel, 2012).
Little by little, the child learns to do this on their own — but first, they need to learn it from us. 🌱
