Today we are pleased to announce the follow-up film to Design & Thinking and Maker - Hanzi, a documentary on Chinese typography.
As a team based in Asia, we looked at several design films and thought what unique perspective could we offer that would add to the discussion of design and creativity? The answer was in our everyday lives: Chinese typography, a medium of design, expression and identity.
But we didn't want the film to be just about the Chinese language, more importantly it's about how design interacts with language, forms identity and relates to culture, and also the struggle that designers face when dealing with the specifics of local font design.
Gathering interviews from the US, UK, Hong Kong and Taiwan, we wanted to make the film as relatable and universal to audiences of multicultural backgrounds. We believe "Hanzi" offers a entirely different perspective on design, and will be valuable to all fans of design and creativity. We can't wait to share the film with you.
