Early this week, I was asked: “Does it make sense for a Brazilian law firm to expand to the U.S.?”
At first, it seemed obvious: strong presence in Brazil, international clients, growing demand.

But the real questions quickly surfaced:

• Strategy first… or physical presence?

Key insight: Expanding to the U.S. isn’t just a business move — it’s regulatory, strategic, and cultural.

2️⃣ Strategy or address: presence without positioning is noise
3️⃣ Real edge = connection: between legal systems, cultures, and expectations

‼️ And the most overlooked factor: cross-cultural readiness
It’s not just language; it’s trust, negotiation, and understanding a different business logic.
Firms that invest early in this move faster, build credibility, and avoid costly mistakes.
Because the real question isn’t if you should expand but it’s how to do it right.
