It has been a long journey with many setbacks along the way. However, challenges invariably test one's intestinal fortitude and, in the final analysis, one must believe in oneself and vision without the expectation of others doing the same. Through discipline, dedication and determination anything is possible. May Afro English continue to educate, edify and elevate in the spirit of the African ancestors. Sankofa!

English Language Learning - Amara's Antonyms 6 30/06/2022

Studying synonyms and antonyms can improve your vocabulary. Finding words with similar meanings that you can use in place of a word you use often can give you more ways to say the same thing. Understanding the opposite of a word – or exactly what the term does not represent – can lead to a more acute understanding of the word itself. As your understanding of a language grows, so does your reading comprehension. Authors capitalize on the contrast of opposites and the nuance of slightly different terms to make their writing more precise.

When you are writing, you can use the same devices to engage your own readers. Why say the water is dark when you can call it murky? Instead of describing a delicious course of your meal as rich, you can call it succulent. Using synonyms and antonyms saves you from having to say the same exact word over and over again and thus enriches your writing.

If you want to speak and write like a native English speaker, you need to increase your vocabulary. One of the best ways of doing this is by learning antonyms! Take Amara's Antonym challenge! https://youtu.be/RjwEsYsqtK8

TOEFL iBT 2022 Reading Comprehension 12 [With Answers] 30/06/2022

The TOEFL iBT® 2022 Reading section is designed to assess how well you can read and understand the kind of materials used in an academic environment. It includes 3 or 4 reading passages, each approximately 700 words long, with 10 to 12 questions per passage. You have 54 to 72 minutes to answer all the questions in the section.

Reading passages are excerpts from university-level textbooks that would be used in introductions to a discipline or topic. The passages cover a variety of different subjects. Don't worry if you're not familiar with the topic of a passage. All the information you need to answer the questions will be included in the passage.

In this reading comprehension practice, you have 60 seconds to read each paragraph of the reading passage and 45 seconds to answer each multiple choice question. On the actual TOEFL iBT test, you will have an average of 10.5 minutes to read and answer the questions in each reading passage. In this practice, you have 8.5 minutes to read and answer all the questions. This practice is more challenging in terms of time restrictions. However, the shortened amount of time for each question will help you to read faster (using the skimming technique to get the answers more quickly) and greatly increase your overall score on the TOEFL iBT reading section.

The answers are at the end of the video. If you have any questions, feel free to get into contact at: [email protected] Be sure to like and subscribe to be notified when the next reading comprehension practice is available. Good luck! https://youtu.be/DRPp7LVoRUo

English Language Learning - Affixes - Asante Affixes 8 30/06/2022

How much do you know about affixes? An affix is a set of letters generally added to the beginning or end of a root word or base word to modify its meaning. The root is the portion of the word that remains when all prefixes and suffixes have been removed. Now that the question, "What are affixes," has been answered, let's explore some examples.

The two main types of affixes are prefixes and suffixes. For example, in the word conforming, (con) is the prefix and (ing) is the suffix, while "form" is the root. For another example, let’s examine the root word (cred) = to believe. Thanks to affixes, it can be transformed into incredible = (unbelievable) with the prefix (in) and by the suffix (ible) If you want to learn more about affixes, you need to watch this video and let Asante show you how easy it is to learn Affixes! https://youtu.be/g84eRhzwG68

Why is motivation important? A child raised by a single mother in poverty, a victim of abuse by his father, suffered from depression and spent a number of years homeless living in his car, all combined to make this man a true inspiration. Tyler Perry, actor, director and producer, has emerged as a major force in the movie industry and created his own Tyler Perry Movie Studios in Atlanta, GA. in 2006. In 2022, he made another milestone by becoming a billionaire. As Tyler Perry correctly asserts: Don't let your current circumstances dictate your destination! https://youtu.be/--oOP1tk7BU
